In Assassin's Creed, there is a machine called the Animus, which allows people to relive the genetic memories of their ancestors. It's essentially a hyper advanced VR. The company that developed it usually has an outside view of these memories on an external screen. I think that's more the point of the references, and it fits with other things he mentions like the Neuralink. Also, GHOTI is apparently meant to be pronounced FISH lol.

Yeah, ghoti=fish is a joke about weird quirks of English spelling. If you pronounced the "gh" like you would in the word "tough" or "rough", the "o" like you would in the word "women", and the "ti" like you would in the word "motion" or "nation" you'd get something that sounds like "fish" from the spelling "ghoti".

Just found out that GHOTI means FISH. Having that in mind when listening to the song gives it a different meaning. enouGH - In this word, GH sounds like F. wOmen - O sounds like I. naTIon - TI sounds like SH. Just saw this on Google. Don't know how it connects to the song and the concept of the album entirely but it makes sense for some of the references.
@gowhite

GHOTI is a word commonly used to describe how silly English is as a language, since it can be pronounced as Fish if you wanted it to. So I take it Lupe is using to mean people are being fooled by those in power to see something that's not there. Ties in with the mummies in boxes line

A man/woman and apple tree translated to capitalism is a man(MCU property)/woman(DC property) at a Applebees (nourishment that epitomizes the temptation (processed food from corporations)) is basically the corporate analogue of genesis.

First time watching this channel, I like the convos here. I love the amount of entendre or interpretations Lu jams into a single bar, even 1 word pronounced a certain way. "Assassin's Creed rapping it back indeed, Like a mansion thats Lacking fees , tapping the blackest keys" invokes a spirit of triumph. I think of Stevie or Ray at the crib just vibing. "Everything paid for, I won cause I stuck to the code now I'm making stuff just for me" type shit Vs "Like a mansion thats lackaffe, tapping the blackest keys " Lackaffe : A person who is unsympathetic and seems wealthy or foppish. This 1 change turns the bar into a mirror of the initial interpretation, describing an undeserving rich exploiter or opportunist "tapping" the blackest minds or resources they can reach with their wealth to increase there gains or exposure. Lu literally keeps this double, triple, quadruple talk up for the whole song and I live for this. Tl:Dr For ATLA heads Lu raps like he's chi blocking instead of laying punch lines

There is a lot to unpack here, definitely verges on modern poetry. I took it as a social commentary on where he feels the world is headed. Really liked the reference to ancient Egypt. History tends to be forgotten due to time constraints, testing and idiotic state laws. It is a subject that should be taught truthfully and inclusively.

The manatee line refers to sea legend and stories of men at sea for so long that they saw manatee in the ocean or on rocks and were so delusional that they hallucinated that the animals were beautiful women waving to them. This is where we get the stories of mermaids and sirens. Sailors would allegedly be so overcome with desire that some would leap into the water or sail into the rocks. This is why sirens are said to use their song to lure men to their deaths. The more you know. 😊

I forgot this, but the line "mistaking maidens for manatees" is a twist on how early sailors to the New World sometimes mistook manatees (sea cows) for mermaids (probably because of dehydration, etc). This ties into the "pirating" reference with NeuraLink. Lupe has apparently hung out with Elon before & they seem to be on good terms. The Wonder Woman & Thor line is referencing not only the way that people exploit gender conflict for profit rather than discussing & finding peaceful solutions, but also the loss of faith / morals, which has affected what we value (hence the "catching bait with fish" line & the references to prosperity gospel theology). Great reaction by the way!
