Lupe has always been dope. Him and Em respect each other. Lupe was very mainstream during Kick push era, but after that the general public just didn’t want such heady music. Nooo lol. I love Gambino but he does not have even a tenth of lupe’s lyrical ability. Gambinos an amazing artist & vocalist but never been the strongest songwriter with his hip hop songs

@@chrismalinowski654 I agree, Gambino knows how to make hits, but lyrically theirs literally maybe only a handful of people on his level and I can't even think of any off the top
@Gen74862 жыл бұрын
@@chrismalinowski654 Respectfully I disagree, if you first listened to ‘Because The Internet’ when you were a little younger, listen again now, it’s even better than it was back then when you deep the lyrics. Bino was ahead of his time in the same way that Lupe was/is. You say he’s not the strongest writer but his freestyles on both Sway and Hot97 are two of the most viewed freestyles on the Internet and he didn’t achieve that by simply being Childish Gambino, he was really saying something when he rapped - same as Lupe. Also a lot of the harmonic chains were similar riffs that Bino went on whilst experimenting for BTI.

Yes! Reviewers either sleeping on Drill Music in Zion or they ducking Lupe. Hype to see you took it on and appreciated his genius. Mans is so underrated in the game. It is hard to catch everything on first listen. Like who knew Ghoti is pronounced fish 😂 GH as in enouGH, O as in women, TI as in nation. You also missed the Seattle Supersonics reference in the chorus of Seattle. Naomi Osaka reference “So swiiiiing!” on Naomi. The last track was basically explaining the meaning of the album. The critique of Drill Music glorifying gun talk. He wishes they were lying in their songs. The irony of having drill music in Zion, the holy place, the promised land. This album is like if Kendrick kept the theme of the end of Heart 5 throughout his album. So creative, so lyrical, deep, impressive. And he does it in 3 days in garage band. He made his illmatic. Give the man his flowers.
