I really think hes one of the most underrated rappers ever. How many people i know who listen to rap and dont have lupe anywhere on their radar is crazy. I get it too man, alotta people just wanna listen to shit and dont wanna do homework but my argument to that is if they wanna make an argument on who the best is they should do their homework.

Lupe has always been dope. Him and Em respect each other. Lupe was very mainstream during Kick push era, but after that the general public just didn’t want such heady music. It’s unfortunate bc Lupe is amazing. Folks talk about Cole or K-Dot being “conscious rappers”, but they aren’t close to Lupe with talent in actuality.

This is easily gonna end up on my "best of the year" list. It's amazing to me how Lupe made possibly his most accessible album sonics wise and even lyrically but still manages to be complex enough for his core audience. I think it's safe to say that Lupe is a hiphop great at this point.

Used to print out Lupe lyrics in school and annotate them, and listen to his albums on repeat on the bus rides in middle school. I remember I analyzed Hurt Me Soul for my 8th grade English project on poetry.. he's been my favorite rapper for so long that last year my friends got me a Lupe Cameo as a birthday gift.. to be a decade and a half in as a fan and to still receive masterpieces - it feels like we're not worthy. @@chrismalinowski654 Respectfully I disagree, if you first listened to ‘Because The Internet’ when you were a little younger, listen again now, it’s even better than it was back then when you deep the lyrics. Bino was ahead of his time in the same way that Lupe was/is. You say he’s not the strongest writer but his freestyles on both Sway and Hot97 are two of the most viewed freestyles on the Internet and he didn’t achieve that by simply being Childish Gambino, he was really saying something when he rapped - same as Lupe. Also a lot of the harmonic chains were similar riffs that Bino went on whilst experimenting for BTI.

Yes! Reviewers either sleeping on Drill Music in Zion or they ducking Lupe. Hype to see you took it on and appreciated his genius. Mans is so underrated in the game. It is hard to catch everything on first listen. Like who knew Ghoti is pronounced fish 😂 GH as in enouGH, O as in women, TI as in nation. You also missed the Seattle Supersonics reference in the chorus of Seattle. Naomi Osaka reference “So swiiiiing!” on Naomi. The last track was basically explaining the meaning of the album. The critique of Drill Music glorifying gun talk. He wishes they were lying in their songs. The irony of having drill music in Zion, the holy place, the promised land. This album is like if Kendrick kept the theme of the end of Heart 5 throughout his album. So creative, so lyrical, deep, impressive. And he does it in 3 days in garage band. He made his illmatic. Give the man his flowers.

I would agree in a sense that Kendricks lyrics are trying to be deep, but he hasn't had that much experience or revisions or honed skills as much as Lupe has...cuz there's still some vagueness in kendricks lyrics while trying to be deep( while enticing and good writing, theyre still not that effective as "deep" bars, for me at least) meanwhile Lupe's lyrics are "deep" and "layered)(makes you think of the images and phrases he's saying) but you can still comprehend it in a way to be appreciated. It's not alienating I guess

Idk if I agree but if there was an artist I thing could go toe to toe in general with Kendrick it might be lupe fiasco. Heavily slept on.

@@sifibruh7055 The concept to this album is so much more intricate then any kendrick album, no great production behind it the ideas stand on there own…. no gimmicks

@vibevilla Ya'll didn't eve get the Damien Hirst reference in Ms. Mural, when he was talking about stepping into the shark tank, One of the most famous contemporary artist in the world Damien Hirst had a sculpture where he put a shark in phymoldohyde inside a tank and had them split in half.
