Saw skindred in early 2000-2002 time frame. Friends band was playing a small small venue in st louis mo, never heard of skindred. Some big black dreaded guy was just killing it the whole show in the mosh pit, then suddenly between sets jumps up on stage and is the lead singer for skindred. Dude was awesome. Great energy show.

As a Skindred fan, Nobody was their first single. The rest of the Babylon album gets so much stronger but Nobody was their anouncement to the world. Something to make people stand up and listen! Check out Pressure! That's an amazing song. They've now had 7 studio albums and they are definitely going from strength to strength while growing as a band.

The whole crowd was 1000% into it and that's where the cheesy parts come out...it fits great in the moment though :) Just don't take these guys too seriously, it's not meant to be prog, just 100% (live) fun. Skindred haven't ever done it for me on record, but saw them live (supporting Bullet for my Valentine) eleven years ago and still think it was one of the best performances I've seen. Can imagine they're the kind of band who make straight-forward, slightly gimmicky records for the purpose of going on tour and really coming into their element on stage when it comes together more, for a metal-leaning party with all these other influences. I appreciate what they're going for, and would make the time for them live, but it's just never clicked for me.

Really fun to see y'all try to dig in to this, a song I listened to a lot growing up. With a lot of space between first listen back in the day and now I still enjoy Skindred but it's much easier to see why they didn't blow up. Nobody is probably their best, and definitely most well known song, but it still sort of feels like a prototype. The mixture obviously has something interesting there but the band couldn't never quite find the mixture that evolves beyond a curiosity.

I saw Skindred live once, like 2007? In the middle of this song the mosh pit got so violent people wee being knocked out. The lead singer stopped and asked everyone 'Why are you all hating each other, we're up in here to bounce in unison, you all have so much in common, stop the fighting' they started the song over and everyone was bouncing :'D good memory.
