I'm very impressed at the "pop up" features at the seats. When I flew the then brand new 747's in 1974 on another "national carrier" in "TOURIST CLASS" all we had were the folding tray tables mounted upon the backs of the seats in front of us, air flow and lighting choices way up above us on the ceiling. The level of "smarts" in these "birds" is extremely impressive!

PS: This probably would be the ONLY time I'd EVER get to "ride" in anything with the ROLLS ROYCE label on it! LOL

Does ANYONE remember the days of only ONE choice for the "in flight" movie? Shown on a REAL movie screen NOT at the seat on your personal monitor? Wow! Amazing progress since 1973. Even since 1989, my last flight on a now, sadly defunct USA carrier "TWA". Anyone remember them or arch competitor "PAN AMERICAN", also sadly defunct now too.

Yes. I actually hated the one movie “choice”. It was either a romantic comedy or something inane that would appeal to kids. I much prefer the screens on the seat backs of Delta. So many choices and you can watch them whenever you want.

@@tiago161 Yes, you're quite correct! I just wanted the "younger" generations who didn't and won't ever share my experience as a kid on a trans Atlantic flight to get a feeling for what "state of the art" in air travel was like about half a century ago. The 747's were magnificent. Once airborne to their cruising altitude of over 30,000ft. you felt... NOTHING! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! The sensation really was akin to sitting at home in your favorite easy chair. Only when they dimmed the cabin lights for a bit of "quiet time" and you peeked out the window that you got ANY sense of motion as the clouds BENEATH you on the horizon, illuminated by moonlight, passed by. It was magnificent and magical to a young kid on his very first jet plane trip.

Now if someone will do a video on the BATHROOMS in these machine? Then we'd get a complete picture of just how "SMARTLY" designed they were by the manufacturer.
