This chapter has taken a long time for me to put together. But it's such a strong, central core foundation piece for the story that I wanted to make sure I did it right. Each character has their own theme in music that spans across previous chapters. And some characters, like Boromir and Rohan, are new music theme introductions that will be carried forward from here. The music selections for Frodo have the most variety depending on the mood of his heart, the mood of the scene, and the interactions that he has with other characters. "Over Yonder" was a duet that Frodo did with Gandalf back in the Shire (ch. 3) when he decided to go to Rivendell, and Gandalf promised to be back by his birthday to travel with him, but he never came back. So the duet song is brought back up again during the Council 'I saw you!' in a dream, and Gandalf finishes his story with 'an account to the ring-bearer' in the duet because of the broken tryst/promise. The song would seem out of place, interruptive, but for the previous relationship and arrangements that they already had together before they were interrupted. Boromir and Aragorn have their own "clash of the horns" with the two songs of "Osgiliath" and "The Lines of Eärendil", but "The Lines of Eärendil" is actually Elrond's song and it doesn't fit with Aragorn's character particularly well at this time. Like the broken sword, Aragorn can't sing past the first measure of it, but in his own heart song "On the Old South Road", which Bilbo pointedly reminds him of, the story of himself and the Dúnedain flows out of him in its own fullness. "Osgiliath" is sung in full in the right place for it, and so is the dwarven song of "Ered Luin Theme" for Glóin's majesty. "Silent Hope" is Bilbo's majesty song, but as the heir of Bilbo, it's attributed to Frodo and to Bag End in general, too. It's Frodo's responsibility song, but it's not really the song of his own heart. Frodo's majestic heart song is "Vales of the Small Folk", which didn't get a place in this chapter. Tom Bombadil got "Moonlit Forest" as a theme song, something majestic that was used while he was telling his tales of the history of his own country in chapter 7. Gandalf's theme song is "Shrouded by Mist". Barliman Butterbur's theme is "Lalia's Market". Shadowfax's theme song is "Shadow of the Argonath". Radagast and Gwaihir share "Eagle Land" as a theme song. Sauron's theme is "The Giver of Gifts", and "The Silver Bastion" is the Ring's song, a beautiful, higher octave elven flow of Sauron's theme, but yet it's temptation, acting upon the bearer's current desire to insert its own song as the fulfillment of it. Sméagol's theme song is "Sméagol and the Ring". Saruman's theme song is "Nan Curunír 04" as a repeat of the first couple of measures. It's such a strong and memorable bassline, but with no melody that it might be considered "white", and Saruman's desires are for the clashing colors of melody lines that appear in the other numbered versions of "Nan Curunír". The white bassline can be written on to make something truly garish for that region, but the orcs love it.

i love these strategic meeting scenes in media. when i first read LOTR this chapter was boring because i didnt understand what they were talking about, but now that i do, its fascinating how much they get into. especially about stuff that casual readers would ask 'but why didn't they simply: __________' and adresses it. like taking the ring to valinor or sending glorfindel on the quest.

I always lost my senses with this chapter because it was just SO-O much information about so many characters and places that I wasn't familiar with. This chapter really was the impetus that made me determined to illustrate it so I could understand it all.

In all honesty, im more excited waiting for your animations of my favourite chapters such as flotsam and jetsam & the scouring of the shire than i was as a child waiting for the star wars prequels to come out. When you eventually finish this project, please, please, post as one full video. That would be epic. Love your work. Keep it up.
