I was completely captivated by this. I've only played LOTRO for a couple of hours and never realized the scope of it. I don't know much else of this game, but I can tell that the world feels real. I've played a lot of World of Warcraft, and although I don't know how the total m2 adds up in comparison, I always felt that WoW regions/biomes were too small. Every region in WoW is completely unique in its color palette/flora/fauna and everything is crammed into a very small area; because of this, WoW's world feels more like walking through a theme park than an actual world. In the real world, not every corner has a beautiful view or a distinct landmark, a lot of it is just _empty_ . This is what leads us to appreciate the views and landmarks in the first place. From watching this, I think the creators of LOTRO understood this - Strange, that a world's _emptiness_ is what makes it feel alive.

The scale of the game is brilliant. Not just map size, but the scale of the architecture and landscape/foliage is perfect. Exactly what you want in an MMO.

I would have loved to see little slowmode view of prancing pony, weather top, isengard, helms deep and so on. And maybe even the path the fellowship took? Anyway great video!

werskantti hey! Are you enjoying lotro?
@nevillelongbottom16284 жыл бұрын
There are so many people who have tried to do a fellowships rendition on the lotro map but due to the divergences of the fellowship a lot of people have abandoned it. Talking Tolkien, another KZbin channel, started doing a walkthrough with exercepts from the books or Tolkien himself to follow along on the journey along with LOTRO Easter egg references to the fellowship's passage, but so far the channel has barely made it to the Lone Lands. Basically barely beginning

According to the wiki the player "walking" speed is 6.5 m / s (practically running), so you traveled approximately 327 km.
@alaskanh.o.g.4lyf9484 жыл бұрын
that would be true if it only took 27 min to walk it, but without speeding it up, it prob took about 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours to walk it
@CCLOSPINA4 жыл бұрын
@@alaskanh.o.g.4lyf948 what? I took into account all 14 hours. 6,5 m * 3600 * 14 = 327 km
