I’m going to start a you tube channel. Not because I want a you tube channel but because the way you appear to compress time. You built a silo in about an hour of video time. Almost effortlessly it seems. On this video, the skid steer moves very quickly and accurately, I might add, all without running into anything. Lastly, “The Neighbor “ 😂 I would like to be as productive in a short amount of time on my dairy as you are….😂 All kidding aside, this Utah dairyman enjoys your work. Thank you…

It is really amazing to see behind the milk containers we buy in the stores! To me, it cant be much more “green” to be a dairy farmer than what is shown in your videos! The farmers of all kinds, that provide the foods of our existence are so undervalued it’s astounding! It makes no sense that the naysayers get so much unjustified publicity! What do they think will happen to civilization, when they legislate farming from existence?

Have you ever considered installing a bubbler system in your manure tanks? I saw Tomb Pemberton’s video on it (over in England) and it works very well at keeping it stirred up all the time. He said he did not need professionals to come mix it, and when they had in the past it only lasted a short while, where as now he can haul whenever he wants to, it is all ways ready.

I remember the ice storm in PA in 1996(?). Power was out for much of the central/north and northeastern part of the state (commonwealth). Will your robot feeding system require a new, more powerful generator if you lose power? Love the black and white cows contrasting with the green grass.

I'm curious what the farm did prior to using the Round-Up- type chemicals to kill off the weeds and cover-crops in the fields. What work was involved before the chemicals were used to prepare for planting?
@MorganOtt-ne1qj
@MorganOtt-ne1qj 9 ай бұрын
Before Round Up there was Paraquat for burn down. Before that, it was almost entirely tillage, and then a chemical application of pre emergent chemical, or maybe a post emergent chemical application. Before chemicals, it was entirely tillage and cultivation to suppress weeds. Sometimes as many as 8 tillage/cultivation passes each summer. Great question!

In watching these videos, it's struck me that one of the conveniences of farming and animal husbandry is that you don't have to go elsewhere to seek adventure, instead, adventure comes to you. Granted, they may not be headline-grabbing adventures, but they are nonetheless high-risk and of uncertain outcome. Weather alone is one continuous contest, then there are the vagaries of animal health, the complexity of machinery and equipment, the mysteries that plague otherwise routine procedures, and the performance of contractors, just to name a few. You have to envy the men and women who enjoy such advantages while the rest of us have to spend good money just to enjoy a week or two of a more challenging experience. Yup, dairy farming's an Adventureland.
