I never thought I would say this but your channel is the only Sailing Channel that knows how to film and edit properly. I have watched several of your videos and never bored for one second. Thanks for another well informed video !!

I've worked on over 115 movies produced in Hollywood with some of the most celebrated Directors and your videos are top notch. In terms of Production Value and Editing/Presenting your sailing channel is quite a few echelons above other sailing channels. Us 32.7K Subscribers are the lucky ones. Best kept secret on KZbin.

Greetings from the Gold Coast, Australia. I love watching your channel, and for those of us stuck in the 9am to 5pm ‘grind,’ living vicariously through your videos 😀 Your boat looks beautiful, out of interest, in terms of ‘livability/ comfort,’ how does it compare to the Lagoon you had, and how do these cat’s fare in storm conditions in blue water? Do you have any concerns about their ability to survive really bad weather, given how high they sit above the waterline (and therefore vulnerable to wind / waves), and the fact they do not ‘self right’ if they go upside down / turn turtle? Thanks 👍

We chose the Outremer 55 in 2019 based on a piece of paper as it was the first performance cruiser we saw that combined performance and comfort / liveability. All the stuff we had on the Lagoon, we were able to install on the Outremer as well without any significant impact on performance. I think it’s close to impossible to capsize an O55 without sailing her into a cyclone but the more important issue is that there is no reason whatsoever to end up in conditions where you have to prove it. In 2,5 years and 30.000 miles the performance of the boat enabled us to choose our weather windows. With an average speed on our ocean crossings of close to 10 knots chances of ending up in storms over 50 knots are slim. Our longest crossing in the Pacific took 13 days, all other ocean crossings 9 days or less.

@@CatGreatcircle thanks mate, how does the average speed of the Outremer compare to the Lagoon?
@CatGreatcircle10 ай бұрын
@robertjfsoper overall the Outremer is 20-30% faster. That’s because when sailing around the world most of the legs are downwind or reaching. Upwind the difference in VMG is much bigger than that, more like 100%
@robertjfsoper10 ай бұрын
@@CatGreatcircle cheers, sounds like the increased speed is worth the sacrifice. I’ve always wondered with the Lagoons, they look beautiful boats, but they have allot of structure (roof and canopy), that sits quite high off the water. It just doesn’t look like it’s been designed for speed and bad weather like the Outreamer has, it looks more like a coastal cruiser.

where in Brazil are you heading to ? Have a safe journey
@CatGreatcircle10 ай бұрын
First we planned to go to Salvador but most boats would be too late for carnaval anyway and it would mean 500 miles extra / upwind So now it’ll be Recife (after St Helena and maybe Ascension). As the weather is helping a bit we might be able to arrive in time for Carnaval in Olinda

@@CatGreatcircleYou guys made a good choice switching to Recife. I am Brazilian and enjoyed Recife much more than Salvador; I would bet Recife is safer.
