Welcome to my mini series! I will be posting one macrame knot or knot pattern a day for the month of February 2019.
Day 20: Six Petal Flower Pattern
I was asked to create a flower pattern with more than 4 petals. I created this pattern that creates a flower with 5 or 6 petals.
The top and bottom petals are the hardest to create because we have to create them vertically and so I had to use a bit of a different technique.
Using the 2 middle strands, tie a double half hitch knot. These two strands will now become your filler cords.
Tie another double half hitch knot on the left. Using the same working cord, tie another double half hitch knot on the right.
Grabbing a new string from the right, use that at your working cord to tie another double half hitch knot. Using that same cord again as your working cord, tie another double half hitch knot on the left.
Grab a new cord on the left which will now be used as your working cord. Tie a double half hitch knot on the left, and then tie another double half hitch knot on the right.
Grab the final cord from the right and use that as your working cord to tie a double half hitch knot on the right and then again on the left.
Tie one final double half hitch knot working with both of your filler cords.
Using the same technique as we did yesterday, create a petal on the left side of your work and another petal on the right side of your work.
We will now create the berry knot. Tie 7 half square knots around all 6 centre strands of rope. Using a crochet hook, pull the centre 6 strands of rope through the middle at the top. Tie two more half square knots.
Repeat the same process for the bottom of your work, start in the middle and work your way out.
You have now create a flower with 5 petals. If you want to create a 6th petal, keep watching.
