Fix Kindle HD WIFI problem!! EASY!!

Cant log onto your wifi with your kindle? Or is the kindle kicking your other devices off the wifi? Heres the fix!!

After hours of searching, I finally found the fix to the KINDLE HD WIFI PROBLEM! May be a fix for android tablets as well!

I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!

As a Security Analyst, Professional hacker, never use WEP for your wifi. I was cracking that in under 5 mins back in 2007. One option that I found that worked for me was to setup a Guest wifi on my router. I called it AmazonFire and gave it an all numeric WPA-PSK2 password. It worked... But we'll see how long this lasts. I am just playing around with this. Looks like the Fire doesn't like wifi on specific channels. Switched to Ch6 for the 2.4 GHz and had the router auto select a new channel for the 5 GHz wifi and back online for my standard wifi SSID. I see that the device auto selects the 5GHz connection type. I'd say that the root cause is looking more like channel configs than a password. Good luck with Troubleshooting your device, cause the Amazon Help page for this was not that great.

People... please don’t do this. WEP is an out-of-date security encryption that leaves your entire network open to “beginner” hackers. This may save a $65 kindle, and cost you an $800 laptop and more. I appreciate the effort, but please edit this video or take down. You may accidentally hurt more people than you’re trying to help.

The unfortunate problem with this method is that WPA or WPK is far superior to WEP in terms of security. WEP is so easy to crack that anybody from the outside can access your wireless network in minutes or less.

What if my wifi doesn't have a password? My kindle used to work fine on my wifi then I didn't use it for about 4 months and when I charged it to use it again it won't connect. It doesn't say there is no wifi it just says searching for networks for hours! I've tried everything. Breaking my heart and my sanity.

Check out the router settings I talked about and see what they are. Perhaps your router could have been reset or somthing? Hope that fixes your heart and your kindle! haha

If you have an Apple Air Router make sure you do the necessary firmware updates. This solved my issue.

Thanks, problem is WEP is your lowest and most unsecured Wireless Encryption Protocol... the numbers can also be used with WPA ... wish it was as easy as this mine is doing the same thing.

Mine no longer shows a list of connections when I tap the WiFi icon. Also, it doesn't work anywhere and I used to be able to hook to hotspots not just at home. Also, I don't have a pssword.

Open Source Movies and Scripts Central Casting into your router, not modem. You can't hack into a modem, there isn't an interface to connect to. Unless you have a modem/router combo device.

jeff..hey i had to do a hard reset of desktop router and i was able to get on int.with dt but my damned kindle hdx kept getting authentication problem and i spent over 1 1/2 hours almost to the point of suicide and finally came across your video and THANK YOU it worked

You have to change the "security type" from wpa/wpa2 to wep, and then set the PW. It's not just all numbers that is the problem, it's that the Kindle can't authenticate with wpa, so it needs wep. Only problem, like another user pointed out, is wep isnt as strong of a security protocol, so your network is less secure from people trying to hack into your network. But it's the only way to get the Kindle fire connected. Maybe setup an additional SSID (network name) if your router allows 2 networks concurrently, and set security to wep on new SSID only, and only use it for the Kindle. And connect all of your other devices to the wpa/wpa2 SSID.

I had the same problem- drove me nuts. Then I clicked on "forget network" when I got a message that there was an "authentication problem". When the network popped up again, I re-connected and voilá!

I just bought one of those $50 Amazon Fire tablets but I've never messed with wifi and apparently this device won't connect through the internet any other way. its possible I did this once to transfer files using two usb wifi adaptors one was in AP mode, had to use the wifi adaptor manufacturers own drivers and sofware from their website

another way is to check the "hide password" box, you should never type the password where you can see all the letters anyways. it can get hacked when authenticating.

Lazypapasmurf that only hides the pw on the local device that you're trying to connect to the network. It only protects from someone looking at your screen and seeing your pw while you type it. That little check box setting doesn't encrypt the pw as it is sent over the airwaves to the router, so a packet sniffer or packet analyzer would still be able to see the password as it's sent from the device (phone, laptop, etc) to the router. This is for WEP secured networks. If you use WPA/WPA2, it will hide the pw as it's sent. The problem is Kindle fire's can't connect using WPA, so you're forced to use the less secure option.

Hi All, my kindle fire just developed this issue, kept giving me authentication error messages and saying not in range. What I did was to go t settings, WiFi and click on the WiFi name and go to modify network. I noticed that the IP address was different from what my phone which shares the same WiFi was showing. I simply changed the ip address and it worked. Hope this helps.

Trouble is WEP is extremely weak, so anyone can jump onto your wifi and use your internet, just takes a little googling :/ Dumb solution.

Here is another solution on why ur tablet cant detect ur hidden SSID. The solution here i found it and if your using a hidden network on ur router u should follow this steps (only if u cant detect ur hidden network) Step 1: Forget your wifi Step 2: Go to add wifi connection Step 3: tap advanced options Step 4: Scroll down and u will see an option that says " Hidden network " and tap the Yes or No. Thats all :D
