I really appreciate it when percussionist compose fantastic pieces for 4.3 marimbas rather than making it a 5 octave piece for those who don’t have a 5 octave but also not making it too simple for a 4.3 like most 4.3 solos. Thanks Adam for this beautiful piece. I would love to see more 4.3 solos from you.

Thank you for this! I agree with you, there are more players out there with 4.3s at the moment and we should be encouraging more serious music for that instrument :)

i’ve just been told by my parents that i shouldn’t even try to go into music. and that i don’t even practice. i’ve been practicing hours every day for the past 4 years in hopes of being able to go somewhere with percussion. not giving up just yet. also i know that that’s a pretty young person thing to be worried about but… i can’t see myself doing anything else. just wanna say that ur a huge inspiration, and that this piece brought tears to my eyes just now. and i’ve heard it a million times already. thank you.

Hmmm, my review of this. It’s really really beautiful, and I love the recurring melodies and themes throughout the piece. I also really appreciate the contrast between the themes as they are sequenced next to each other. The chord progressions are beautiful as well. I’ll definitely be playing this in a solo ensemble with moon as well. Oh and the most important note- ITS ON A 4.3!!!

littlelamp100 it depends on how comfortable you are with the instrument. If you haven’t really played a marimba solo Before there are other pieces you Should begin with,as this piece has some advanced stuff in it. But if you think you’re up for it then I’d say go for it!
