What I found for a nice petal texture is to crumble them into balls, and press overnight.

You are amazing. Your ingenuity and skill is outstanding. I get excited when one of your videos shows up in my feed. I know it will be teaching me a new skill and ignite a fire for a goody I now know I absolutely must have. Lol. I think this wood be lovely in pearl white paint, or a soft orange with brown edging for a fall look, or red and green or blue and silver for christmas. Thank you for sharing your creative heart. No. As I mentioned, use a LED bulb, it puts off very little heat.
