there are so many ways to use lotus. we can use its huge leaves to wrap and steam food giving out an aromatic fragrance. we can also harvest its crispy roots to do stir-frying and make soup. the only challenge is, we have to extract the roots carefully from its alluvial bed. its matured seeds can be used to make a sweet lotus paste which is commonly used in making steam buns called paus. its flower can be used to make tea as well. in Malaysia, the lotus plants are mainly grown in the ex-tin mining ponds.
