I've got a great LDP story. In the early 2000s, I worked at Hard Rock Cafe Louisville. I had this buddy, and he and I regularly quoted, not just Young Guns, but Lou's lines. One weekday afternoon, I had one guy sitting at a table. He wore glasses and a ball cap and casual clothes. My buddy walks by a few times, and finally says, "Dude, that's Lou Diamond." I realized he was right, asked him to cover my section, and I ran down the block to a Borders Bookstore, which had a section of DVDs. I bought Young Guns 2 and ran back. When Lou was finished, my buddy and I were chatting with him, and I whipped out the DVD and asked for an autograph. Lou sees me pull it out of my apron and says, "Holy shit. You carry this around with you?" Without a pause, my buddy says, "He sleeps with it under his pillow." This tickled the shit out of Lou, and he gladly signed and continued to chat with us. He was in town doing The King and I. Hell of a guy, and hands-down, the coolest celebrity I've met. Thanks, Lou! I still have that DVD!

My favorite movie starring Lou in the lead role has to be The First Power. It used to scare the living crap out of me when i was a kid, but i was finally able to rewatch it again a couple years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it 😃. Such a great film, very entertaining, and not scary at all.. at least, not anymore 😂 Btw great interview, Michael. Up until now, I had never watched a Lou Diamond Philips Interview, so it was really cool learning about his experiences in film making. And he seems like such a great guy. Thanks for making this happen. I look forward to watching more of these interviews :)
