Obviously commenting as a Ranger fan and a longtime member of the Original Blue Seaters such as Fuzzy, Chief, Buddy, and "Dancin" Larry Goodman, the greatest letter carrier in Hoboken history, the following commentary is complementary to a traditional rival. I started in the blues at age 6, which explains my commentary (off the wall?). That being expressed, Lou Lamoriello is the standard for American hockey, regardless of his club affiliations which have made him a villain for decades to The Garden Faithful. Mr. Lamoriello's philosophy is simple. The psychological impact of implementing the rules creates a culture of professionalism and dignity that improves performance by enhancing self-esteem and identity. In other words, SELF RESPECT! If you don't respect yourself, sure as hell, no one else will! When Lou took over in New Jersey his impact transformed a woe-be-gone franchise into a dynasty. Lou's impact on USA Hockey has reverberated globally. Our hockey program is no longer mired in mediocrity but a consistent contender for a gold medal or World (Canada) Cup. Self-esteem creates an environment of accountability, a common denominator for any successful program, and look at Lou's resume'. The McGroarty situation reminds me of the confusion caused in the past by guys like RJ Umberger and Jimmy Vesey. It will be interesting to see what Sully gets out of him. Rutger spent two years in our USNTPD program and was, in a bizarre caveat, the highest Nebraskan drafted since Jake Guentzel. Will he have an impact? Not yet. The greatest athlete? Just an opinion, but the first name to come to mind was Chris "He's No Blankin' Leetch" Chelios. At his number retirement in Chicago, Chelly looked like he could have suited up and given the Hawks a solid 18-23 minutes on the blue line that night.

Great Video, as usual, guys. I am sure that Lou is a terrific person & I personally haven't a thing against him & agree with the clean appearance policy, but, Anthony is proof that you can have facial hair, etc., and, still have a clean appearance. I think that the Yankees aren't allowed to look sloppy, but, are allowed to have A Moustache, especially Willie Randolph & Dave Mattingly. It was Marge Shotz who didn't want any facil hair at all (this is why Rollie Fingers retired, rather than to shave that trademark handle bar moustache).

Thank You, once again, Filk, on The Mike Grier Issue. Not only did I say, about all of the same things that you said, but, I also think, while agreeing with the need to do A Rebuild, he did in fact Gut The Team/then make David Quinn, who, as you know is not my favorite coach, but, did get decent results with the 2 Horrible/Rebuilding Teams in games, The Scapegoat. Let me know what you think (I likely know that we might not agree on David Quinn - I'm only of the view that he tried keeping the teams in games; the detriment being not developing younger players).

Even though I agree with you, Filk, to answer your question, Jeremey Swayman became A $10M/yr Goalie, the day that Linus Ullmark was traded (be it Prematurely). If there was a Tandem, this wouldn't have likely happened or there would have been the option to Trade Him & go with Ullmark. Let me know what you think

It's no wonder the Islanders can't attract top line free agents. Lou's a dinosaur.

He got them with Toronto. I don't think it's his philosophy. He prides himself on draft and development. That said, if they do that says more about the player

How long has it been since one of his teams won anything??@@BigAppleHockey

@@BigAppleHockey How many very good players has he drafted and developed on the Island, two or three at the most? As far as him being a "traditionalist", then why did his teams at Providence way back when ( I am 78 and remember them) wear those pajama style uniform bottoms, instead of traditional uniform pants and stockings?? For a non- conformist back then, now he wants no numbers higher than 35, no facial, or long hair....personally, I think he's jealous! 😂😂
