At 43:05, I think we see a brief glimpse of the MTM Lou Grant! Only time I recall seeing it in the whole run of this series.

I think there has been a little of the old Lou all through the series. you have to remember that there is a difference between a small news room in Minneapolis and a Large Newspaper in LA. He'd have to treat the staff a little differently in LA. But I think he's Basically been the same personality.
