Lou Reed did not have a singers voice but he was a great singer. You don't miss a word of a song. He was fierce. Every note he song was truly his own - his own way. His language was to speak the truth and to bring forth a world many would not have looked at without judgement. He was a poet. His songs shone a light through a darkness of shame, judgement and ignorance. And we saw a world of human beings - flawed , but grand and the truth extends to them their rightful grace. He described those moments in their lives that transcended their circumstance. And told us something about ourselves. LOU REED TOLD THE TRUTH. R.I.P.

This is one of the best performances of one of his best songs played next to the great Robert Quine. Lou looks great, young, healthy. It will take the world decades if not a century to figure just how good he was. It hurts to know he is gone.

Misslotusification I think you are right. Bob Quine last played with him on the mid to late eighties tours, so he may be in his mid 40's in this video.

You couldn't be more right. It is desperately sad to watch these brilliant, creative, contrary men fade away and leave us with the predictable antiseptic product of many artists now. If Lou had lived even another 10 years, whatever music he would have put out, everyone knows it would have divided, been totally original and had balls. That is special.

My dad actually introduced me to Lou Reed at a young age. I always thought the transformer cover was of Frankenstein so I thought Lou Reed was Frankenstein. We'd be riding in the car and I'd say "Dad lets listen to Frankenstein". Still a big fan of Lou. R.I.P, Frankenstein.

This is the best version of this track.Strangely romantic and visceral all at the same time.Robert Quine is/was one the greatest and most recognizable lead guitarists in terms of style that I have heard. If I had a time machine I would go back to the concert in 1983 at the Bottom Line NY. Oh and why do we have to compare Lou Reed to the Stones anyway? I love both. Can't we leave it at that?

Very sad about Lou. My brother texted and said "The Blue Mask is finally taken off." and that is how I found out. I was lucky enough to see Lou and Quine play in 1985. When he walked on stage, people yelled "Lou" which sounded like a BOO of love. So sad today.
