Fun technique! I think I'd probably blot the excess spray with a piece of watercolor paper (perhaps with a heat embossed clear image stamped on it).

I agree. I have a box of kitchen paper that I use for mopping up. I try to keep the sheets in different colour groups so I don't end up with mud. Once the sheet is fully covered, it goes in a pizza box for storage. You can pull the plies appart and get double for your money that way. This makes fabulous collage fodder. I do the same with sheets of kitchen paper that go in the bottom of my splat box. I use this cardboard box for spraying so the spray doesn't cover my entire studio! Once the papers are "matured" and nicely covered, they get saved. You can get some interesting masking effects on the papers when you spray die-cuts. The spray soaks through and colours the layers underneath.

This is great. Love the effect. You could also use gauze, or plasterer's scrim (I use a lot of this in my mixed media art) - in fact anything fibrous and fine that will stick to the embossing. I also have a box where I save my sewing and embroidery thread scraps, including bits of gold. These would work well, I think.

This is different and gives a great effect on the cardstock. Not knowing how each attempt is going to turn out will add to the fun! I don't have cotton wool in the house any more as I simply don't have a use for it. I also don't have nails like yours and cringe at the thought of trying to remove the cotton wool. Nevertheless, that does not take away the fun of watching something different evolve. Thanks, Lou :-)

What a great idea Lou, love this idea. As you said, j ust make sure it’s 100% cotton and doesn’t have any polyester or other synthetic fibers which could melt with the heat gun as well as not soak in the color.

Oh Lou, this is different, doing the adhering of cotton balls to melting embossing powder. I have thought about sprinkling my tiny stars & bits of fine threads in the past but didn't do it. Now, I think I shall experiment & see what I can create! Very interesting and tactile fun! 🙏🥰🦘🦘🦘

You could flip the paper over and reheat it from the back before you press it in the mat for more even adhesion. I love the striped ones at the end. The double sided adhesive has lots of possibilities.

I can’t quite understand what kind of cotton you are saying. At first I thought you were saying cotton ball but then I thought you might be saying cotton wool???? I don’t have any idea what cotton wool is. Is it cotton and wool mixed? Does it matter how much cotton and how much wool? I liked the result and would like to try it.
@LouCollins11 ай бұрын
Hi Barbara, do you. It have cotton wool where you are? It’s extremely common here. Its very thin stands of cotton formed into balls or sheets or on small sticks as buds. Usually found in the baby or skincare aisle at the shops as it’s gentle to use with cleansing products.
@barbaraspring319911 ай бұрын
@@LouCollins no, I’m from the US and that sounds like what we call yarn. It usually come in a ball that is called a skien. It can be cotton, polyester, wool (actual wool), etc but not cotton wool since cotton is from grown cotton and wool is from an animal like a sheep. Thank you for answering me. Are you in the UK?
@oheck557011 ай бұрын
On this side of the ocean it can be called cotton batting (but not for quilts) or absorbent cotton. Used in first aid.
