Fabulous 🤩. I don’t mind letting adverts run so the video creators hopefully get some payment… but I’m not prepared to watch ‘adverts’ that are 30 minutes long! One this morning was 70 minutes! Longer than the videos I watch 😂 crazy 🤪

Would never had thought of using embossing ink on photopaper. What a great idea! Wondering what would happen if I photoshoped something into black and white, printed on the glossy photo paper and then did any one of these techniques. Guess there's only one way to find out. Thanks for the inspiration.

Can you use isopropyl alcohol instead of the blending solution? The solution is quite expensive and you seemed to use quite a bit.
@LouCollins3 сағат бұрын
@@pennydouphinett4545 worth a try! I used it to see if it would reactivate dried ink and it didn’t but it might be able to help the ink move whilst still wet 🤷♀️

Lou, I stumbled on your channel as I was purchasing the distress oxide inks. I already owned the complete set of Distress inks and didn't think I needed this set until I was crafting with a friend who had the oxides and I couldn't believe how beautifully they blended. I purchased a swatch chart from someone else for the distress inks and was looking for a swatch chart for the oxides when I found your channel. Not only the swatch charts but also the ink labels for FREE!! I filled them in as I purchased and then discovered your blending combinations playlist! The angels started singing!! I love creating but have a very tuff time with color combos. This series has been a GOD send for my creativity!! Thank you so much!!!!I do have one request the colors you have listed under more is not always correct or in order. I like to have all my labeling done before I start to swatch. That way when I get interrupted I know what and where I am in this endeavor. So usually I have to fast forward the video to see the color names and then go back and watch as I swatch. Just a helpful hint. Im your loyal Fan!

Oh, so happy you mentioned this! A few of us did this some years ago with Oxides and found that it worked on some photo paper and not on others - no rhyme or reason. But that was Oxides, not regular Distress. And when we wiped it off slightly the color sometimes changed! I still have some old aka ugly backgrounds from it and use it for strips or other shapes and it stops being ugly.

Try thoroughly soaking your photo paper with water before you put any ink on, then stamp in a colour (creates a gorgeous vintagey/distressed/watercolour stamp effect), then add other ink colours. Using lots of water helps layer colours to some degree. Luise Heinzl does a series of fantastic tutorials on them.

I love working with inks on photo paper. Wetting the paper first, then using stamps with colours then spray stains or inks/oxides smooshed using a Gelli plate or other good smooshing surface creates gorgeous vintage effects! Luise Heinzl does some amazing techniques with photo paper. Just make sure you DON’T use Glossy photo paper on your Gelli plate or it will stick to the plate & ruin it. Use Matte photo paper there. I really love the partially oxidised effect you get using lots of water first & Distress Oxides too. Gives some gorgeous galaxy effects with cloudy areas & bright colourful areas. Also the water allows for more layering of colours too.

I did this right after watching. I love how shiny and colorful they are! Unfortunately I didn't have blending solution, so used 99% alcohol. It still gave me a great result, but I imagine the resin like substance in the solution works better. I've since added to my "wish list". Pretty awesome that I got such fab results with my $1.25 ~100 sheets photo paper. THANKS for a fun afternoon!

I absolutely love the backgrounds you created. I’ve never used photo paper with my Distress products before, but will definitely be going out to buy some photo paper soon and spend an afternoon creating pretty papers. Just FYI, white ink’s are made with pigment only, including Distress Picket Fence. I learned that from one of Tim Holtz’s KZbin videos a few years ago. So I’m not sure what’s causing the resist when you used Picket Fence, but it’s not white dye ink. Likely it’s the resins in the ink that made it fluid.

Looks like it’s been a long time since most of us have played around with photo paper and stains and distress inks. I absolutely love the dramatic effect the colors have on photo paper. Oxides are a brilliant designed ink. Because they are diluted here after sprayed with water I wonder if the new distressed spritz’ Will work. Hummm thanks Lou
