Damn i bought a 1970 torino GT in 1979 it was maroon and had a 429. I was 15. Had a permit. $700 bucks. It had bad paint from a house fire. So i painted it black. Otherwise mint condition. I had it till i was 21. Then gave it to my best friend. He kinda trashed it but offered it back to me when my son was 15. I was then 40. To many memories so i turned it down. Been wanting one ever since. Hard to find. Love seeing this car. I had the louvers and honeycomb lights but a different grill. Maybe i will find one some day and buy it.

Love this car Lou. I mentioned before that as a youth I collected auto brochures and factory price lists for cars between 66 and 80. I do not remember spinners being offered on the Mag 500 wheels I love their look...perhaps it was an aftermarket accessory. Also love the optional laser stripe that was offered on the Torino GTs.

This is a very nice Ford! That idle is awesome. Thanks, Lou. I still miss the 1971 Ford Galaxy I got free in the early 90s. After a cheap engine rebuild on the 400M we ran it up to over 320,000 miles. It was rusty, had actually been totaled twice, and needed a lot of work, so was junked in Dec.2007. In January of 2017 we got a letter from the police in Austin, Texas wanting us to pay a fine, because it had blown through a toll booth on the freeway without paying! The Wisconsin collector plates were still on the car! Old Fords don’t die, they just keep going faster.

Why would the outlaw the spinners? It doesn't get much better than bucket seats console, louvers, spoiler and hide-away lights. Are the louvers being reproduce? I heard that they're incredably rare.
@loucostabile6 жыл бұрын
The story (as I understand it) regarding the "spinners" is that they could fly off the car in an accident and become a weapon. I've never heard of anyone being killed by one. Not sure how difficult it is to find louvers.
