Wow. I'm impressed! I did own a 1967 Plymouth GTX back in 1968 when I was 18 for about one year until Uncle Sam sent me my draft notice. Mine was a 440, not a Hemi, and my dad lent me the money for a down payment...and I worked 3 jobs making those monthly payments. My good friend Pete Shadinger, who won competition eliminator and little eliminator titles at several NHRA National events (2-time US Nationals winner early 1960s). helped me with some performance add ons. I am so impressed with this video because I thought...here's another video and the driver will baby it around...NO. This guy is really a badass and he puts that Hemi through the paces!!! I'll be 71 this coming July and what memories it brings back to me. Mine was B5 Blue, Torqueflite, and we added Hedman Headers, Mallory Dual Point, Holley 3-Barrell on the special aluminum Edelbrock intake and got it to run 12.96 at 107 with its 3.23 gears and tiny slicks on. Notable, when I got it, it had 1200 miles on it purchased at an area Dodge Dealer and we paid $2,995. I think it must have been one of the last ones built as it came with a Dana 60...not an 8 3/4 rear which is what all the automatics came through with. If it was a 440 or a 426 Hemi 4-speed, they all had Dana 60s. From the sound, I think this Hemi in the post has either a 3.23 rear or maybe a 3.55. Great video..check my website at gregzyla.com and thanks if you do.

I too bought a '67 in 1968 when I was 16 (thanks grandpa for gifting the down payment). It was also a 440 with the same black paint job as in the video (but with 2 gold racing stripes down the hood). I loved that car. Had to sell it after a few years because I couldn't afford the insurance payments. Great video and great memories.

Love the way the owner built the car. Kept the body lines and trim original (no murdered out crap or ridiculous looking 20+” wheels) so it still looks essentially like a 60’s-70’s muscle car. He then restomoded the drivetrain, brakes and suspension and then drives the car vs parking it in a warehouse somewhere. Well done!! BTW, I love the paint color. Very striking.

I'd have been proud to have come up with this generation of musclecar as well. Certainly don't make em like this anymore. This is Dana Gray and I bought mine when I was 18 and still have it today that was 45 years ago now, it is an original 426 hemi 4 speed car But when I bought it, it was a 440 automatic which I changed back to a 4 speed. After blowing up the 440 44 years ago it has been stored. but after watching this video over and over and over with the volume wide open to listen to that sound and driving my wife crazy this has inspired me to work at resurrecting our town terror machine. Looking for an engine for it now, a 426 would be nice but seems to be out of my budget so looking for a 440 that I can build myself to the old 440 I built when I bought the car, 11.5 to 1 compression mild cam and holly 850 double pump carb

gorg car...beautiful paint...unique and beautiful body lines on the mid-60's Mopar. Real, non-aspirated horsepower...you get all its got, right up front in the seat of your pants. 1966-67 were first years for the street hemi, and they sold more of them then than any other so they are not uncommon, but any hemi car has value...I'm glad the owner didn't cut it up for a resto-mod. Pistol grip didn't show up 'til 1970, but lots of Mopars retrofitted, 'cause they're fun.

The 1967 Plymouth GTX is on my bucket list. When I was in high school 1979. My friend had a perfectly straight body 67 GTX with a beefed up 440. He kept blowing up the 3 speed automatic transmission and left it sitting on the street. I tried many times to buy the car from him. But he would not sell it. The city of Houston kept putting warnings on the windshield to move the car. The city eventually took the car away. I can not get that car out of my head and must get one before I kick the bucket.

Shawn, that's another great find! Proportions are just RIGHT; everything looks best on the model that came out first, before the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year "Model Spread" that usually happened. The length would grow, the width grew, and the weight grew as well. The 1st years were the best of nearly any model car. You make me laugh though when you say, "I wish I'd have had one like this when I was 17." Shawn, if you'd had one like this at 17, there'd be really high odds that you never would have made it to 18! ;^) Damn few 17 year olds have the skills to control something like this. (Not all that many 50 years olds do either.) There are no "Nannys" in there to save your butt when you over do it. Thanks Shawn, it's another excellent video...
