In 1977 I was teenager shopping for my first car and almost bought a 71 383 4 speed Cuda but it was trashed as many Cuda's in my price range were. I ended up with a 74 360 Cuda as my first car which wasnt exactly what I wanted but it had 30K miles and was in excellent condition and it was $2200 which I could afford.

I'm a huge Sci-Fi fan and Weta is up there as one of the best. Aaron has been doing little teasers of the Cuda for awhile. So it's really cool to see it finally displayed in full and hear about the build in detail. I was hoping for this collaboration for a very long time. I'm really glad to see it finally happen.

I love his use of fifteen inch wheels. The overall diameter and fitment looks proper. The guys with the early Mustangs also have pulled off the correct look. The super tall diameter wheels look silly on many cars.

This has been my favorite car build for *years* and I am so thrilled to hear it belongs to a WETA artist. My first car (79 Firebird) alternates between a Mad Max build for Wasteland Weekend, and a Matt Reeves inspired Batmobile throughout the year, and this Cuda always gets referenced when I work on a new design for it. As a fellow special effects artist and hot-rodder, one massive salute to this car and its owner.

I’d had muscle cars my whole life, first car at 15 was a 68 Chevelle. In 2009 I had to sell the two I had when my dealership got closed. Had to save the house. I kept my old 4x4 Dodge. A few years later I bought a 2016 Shaker Challenger. Great car, does everything well. But I had to have another old school car again. Nothing beats old school muscle, especially when it’s modified like this.

My first car that had any amount of power was a 90 Mustang LX 5.0. I have always been one who likes a car to handle as well as go straight. This car had V rated 60 series 15" tires. However, for what it was, the handling aspect was ok, the go straight was awesome. I soon got rid of that and bought a new 94 Mustang GT with the 17" wheel/tire setup that was the same as the Cobra of that year, handling improved pretty well. After a short dive into a VW Jetta, I bought a preowned 00 BMW 328 Sport Pack 4 door. It had a square set (same size tires all around) of 17" performance tires. I swapped them out for an 18" 225 40 in front 255 35 in the rear. Holy cow could that handle!!!! Since then my 12 Mustang GT with 19" wheels handled well, but the solid rear axle hinders the handling somewhat due to the V8 puts so much power down. I also have a 20 Mustang GT Track Package with 255 40 and 275 40 in a 19" wheel. With that setup and independent rear suspension, it handles like my old Bmw but on steroids. Short story long, it is amazing how that beautiful Cuda handles so well with that kind of power being put down and a non independent rear end.

No idea WHAT 440 this one is, but the good ones were WILDLY tough. My favorite big Mopar is the 383, they'll rev crazy high, and as far as I know they all had a pretty bulletproof bottom end. There were later truck 440s that were not-so-great, but his must've been a good one. They resist overheating WAY better than a big-block Chevy or Ford. I love how low and raw and mean this thing is. I also love that it's still got leafs in the rear, not a damn thing wrong with leafs with the right 'helpers', and there's no way to fuck up the alignment. REALLY cool car.

It is pretty wild seeing Aaron Beck who’s designs I followed many years ago on his variations of the Cuda, getting to see his car that his renderings from 10 years ago completed and done, he is an extremely talented automotive designer and to see his styling ideas in a person is pretty amazing. The car is pretty raw and analog, without all the creature comforts you would expect in a restomod ...pure no nonsense driver’s car, with ton of attitude and the muscle to back it up! Really well done and must be a blast to drive! Keep up the great work!
