I don't believe it's the Vego raised beds. It's the soil making the plants grow. Vego is waaayyyy to expensive for the majority of viewers. God Bless and happy growing

I believe what Danny is saying is that he can control the soil better in the VEGO beds. Can’t argue with that.
@pecangrovems7 ай бұрын
The soil is easier to maintain in the vego beds. They don't wick the water and nutrients like wood does. So yes they make a big difference.
@NashRambler7 ай бұрын
@@pecangrovems. We’ve had a garden for 14 years and have built every manner of wooden box. The wood rots and has to be replaced. This year we bought 3 Vego beds and we are very happy with them. No more rotting wood and the plants are doing great.

Our beds are resting this year so we're growing entirely in containers. All dwarf varieties. We've needed to move them around regularly to capture the right conditions. It's been interesting. We're seeing nice proliferation, though.....I saw 1 army worm yesterday, but haven't seen an army. Container gardening makes it easy to check for eggs throughout the season, and we've been lucky.

Just a thought. Have y’all ever considered adding an olive tree or two to the PG greenhouse? Even if you don’t get much fruit, because they grow slowly, the leaves are very valuable nutritionally and medicinally.
@littleflockontheprairie48717 ай бұрын
Bizarre thing happened to a couple of tomato plants in the greenhouse yesterday. We had a front go through and the strong wind shifted from SE to W/NW. I wasn't home when the shift happened, so the north roll-up side was still up. When I examined the plants in the GH, some leaves on the tomatoes had turned black...almost as if they had been frost-bitten. Today is MUCH calmer and beautiful!

Got warm for a week. Got fooled again. Planted my starts. They are ok but just waiting for the temps to rise above 50s. All my flower seeds are stuck at germination but no other leaves for 3 weeks. Very very late start this year. Expect reseeding everything floral in a few weeks. Even radish with 30 day to harvest is 45 day and still no harvest. 😩

In your high tunnel you are growing squash and I am curious about what size container you are growing them in. I have a question about something my neighbor has in his garden. Neither of us has seen this before. He is growing straight neck yellow squash. All from the same seed pack. Some look normal. Some look normal, except they are totally green even when 4 to 5 inches long. But the most unusual are the ones that are half yellow and half green. The end attached to the plant is the green half. It is not a gradual change in color. They are shaped like a normal squash. It's as if someone drew a line around the middle section of the squash, and on one side of the line, it's the normal yellow color, and on the other side of the line, it's as green as grass. On the same plant, there are normal yellow squash. Have you ever seen this before, or do you have any idea, even a guess as to what is going on? Danny is one of the most knowledgeable gardeners I know. If he doesn't have an answer, I doubt I'll find one.

I have 40 20 gal tubs , plus lots of 5-10 gal plantings of peppers herbs etc. In my tubs I've been using mustard OR peas in tubs not being used for fall winter here in PNW. I like the peas cause if they do sprout well (timing) and get thick I have a lot of organic matter to chop in early. Mustard I eat till frost kills but some years I have to chop it up. Mustard my attempt to hopefully discourage stink bugs for next year.
