The reason the fuse round isn't doing anything is because IRL it uses manual time fuses that are automatically adjusted as it fires by the fire control system, gaijin has outright refused to add this system so its basically impossible to use for any purpose other than its slightly higher dps compared to the fin stabilised rounds.

Gaijin management and people who decide what to add and what not, are some total morons with quarter of a brain and decision making process of a 5 year old. They add stuff that completely destroys the game balance in the name of "realism" and "immersion" yet they refuse to add systems and mechanics that would give any use and viability to weapons/vehicles that are utterly trash and useless in the current state of the game. I often wonder (this is the case not only with gaijin) how those imbeciles ever end up on such high poisitions in companies.

Phly you have to set the fuze distance with your lrf (and not automatically how it works irl) which means the timed fuze is all but useless, the apfsds is actually pretty good against helis and planes thanks to how fast it is

This thing has THE WORST stock grind in the entire game. It's APFSDS is a tier 4 modification which is already very difficult to reach. But the real problem is the stock ammo you get has only 87mm of penetration value point blank and how many of the rounds in the belt are actually ApP and not HE? 33%... Yes only 1 in 3 rounds is AP and it has a BR 1,7 penetration value. I've never felt so powerless and frustrated in a vehicle before PUMA, i literally would rather use a Swedish reserve with the APDS round over a stock round PUMA

Not to mention that it shouldn't even have a mixed belt. It is a open bolt double feed autocannon. That's like the whole fucking point of the system, so you can have pure belts and switch on a shot by shot basis.

On the subject of gamemodes, I wish there was a Team Fortress 2 payload race style gamemode, where teams would take turns in rounds trying to control a moving point across the map to win. I think i remember hearing someone discuss this at some point about having one team cap a train, and the train would move with the team as they push.

I truly think Warthunder needs to develop new game mods like you said. The vehicles they have nailed. But we are still playing the same ground we have been since the Beta launch of ground forces... I totally agree, a battlefield inspired mode would be incredible. Defenders vs Offenders. Tug of war capture modes with silver lions respawning like EC mode, sure there are people who want relative quick matches but that doesnt stop you from adding new permanent modes to be selected in the menus. I'm sick and tired of my favorite long game mode (Naval EC) only appearing once in a blue moon under events... I have the full tech tree of my fan nation grinded out and researched long ago, now I just occasionally get the new vehicles, most of my playtime now is in custom battles where I can take Land Sea and Air out all in one just to have fun as these normal modes don't do it for me anymore but I just love the vehicle sim of this game, and the time I put in to get the full tree leaves me feeling guilty for not playing as much now days

I really WISH the Puma's AHEAD rounds were VT. I'm not sure how they're supposed to work in real life because in-game, the only way you can get them to fuse correctly is to manually laser range find your air target and it will fuse at the distance the aircraft is at. But the millisecond that plane moves any direction away the shell will just detonate harmlessly where the plane was. At one point in War Thunder you could MANUALLY adjust the fuse for certain timed shells. I remember for a very short period of time the Russian WW2 76mm or 85mm milk truck (I can't remember exactly what caliber it was, it wasn't the 25mm or 37mm AA version) you could use your scroll wheel and adjust exactly when your shell would detonate in air. So you could range find a plane, say it was at 800m, and you could manually set the fuse to 500m and try to lead the target. I think I maybe got ONE kill from doing this, it was very hard to do.

They have a Time Fuze and get Programmed by the Rings in the Front , Distance and Time to hit after the specified Time has been reached it will detonate so kinda like VT but not really

Use "R" to lock the target just like in radar spaa then they will auto fuse. It won't show to fuse distance, but it will work.

@@Mastermareck Unless they just changed that today, it wasn't working for me 2 days ago. I tested it out for about 10 minutes in the Test Drive trying to see if it would work correctly and although yes you can lock air targets and get the lead indicatior, the AHEAD shell didn't proxy fuse near the enemy. Using "R" for the laser range finder would indeed set the fuse for the shell, but only for the aircrafts current position and it would not automatically adjust the proxy distance based on the aircrafts new position.

I think the PUMA would be more balanced and more interesting/fun to play, if First: They moved it to 9.7 or 10.0, and added the MELLS missle system (last comment got removed because i put a link to the source, just google "PUMA IFV" you should find the site by KMW) people already playing 9.7-10.0 will be more than used to dealing with this (BMP2M, 2S38), and it would give it a real chance against capable MBTs, making it a great support vehicle. In reality the PUMA has 2 MELLS missles mounted on the side of the turret, in WT it should have the same, and one reload, giving it a total of 4. Second: They properly implement the MUSS APS, to how it works in reality. It is able to detect the direction of the incoming missle, and blind it, however even though in WT it is placed on sed rotating platform, it is fixed facing forward. Real shame they only managed to do half the job implementing it really. Third: They properly implement the AHEAD round, to how they work in reality. The velocity of the round is detected at the end of the barrel, then i beleve using magnetic data transfer, the round is programed to detonate at a specific time, likely a meter or so before the targets estimated position. They should have added this when they added the target tracking, but for some reason they didn't. Again to see this info about the PUMA just google "PUMA IFV" and check out the KMW site

I was grinding British 7.3 when the PUMA was released, always up tier and against Germany, PUMAs everywhere, no chans with the Swingfire, Centurion Mk.3 and Centurion Mk.5/1, it was not fun. So I went with Germany 7.7, where I have DF105 and Maus + some 7.3 vehicles like Marder A1- , Spz BMP-1 and Leopard 1, guess what, almost all matches where 8.3, but with PUMAs on my side they where fun. I understand that Gaijin puts new tanks att a lower then balanced BR due to the hype and grinding you have to do. That results in a lot of played hours. Thanks for a nice video! I don't know if PUMA have the loudest gun, how does it compare to the gun that M163 have?

Still baffles me that this has “magazines” while the 2S38 has a 20 round 1st stage ammo rack, diff calibre, but it has a carousel under the turret which is basically one massive magazine. And this Puma can shoot while the active magazine is burning out. Either add a 20 round magazine to Puma or remove it from the 2S38

The standard version of the puma does not habe missiles. The newer version uses Spike rockets inside of MELLS. So it could be that they add this version later with a higher BR.
