Fatal 2-Car Fiery Crash, Cops Catch Perp / Brooklyn NYC 8.18.23

8.18.23 | by Adam | DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN - Two car crash, black sedan on fire, second white sedan crashed on sidewalk next to trader joes. Happened 3:30am Friday at Atlantic & Court. Extricated victim with CPR reportedly dead. Highway units requested to investigate. One driver/occupant was restrained by police around the corner after being pointed out by witnesses. A pantless female victim was seen with him, went to hospital via EMS. Three others were injured in the crash.

🤦🏼‍♀️🥺 this is so heartbreaking to watch, I hated being in a vehicle w a trauma core doing compressions because it’s exhausting but also because you become more invested in the patient, particularly if they are young. You can tell by how swollen her abdomen is that she probably has a lot of internal bleeding. It’s not easy getting IV access here but even an IO is risky. Either a torn aorta, a ruptured spleen, so many scenarios that may of caused her to pass. She had to have some sort of sign of life or they would have just pronounced her and not continued resuscitation efforts. I’ve been a fire/medic for 19 years and these calls are so frequent, and most the time completely avoidable, esp if there was drugs or ETOH involved. always make it hard esp when you are a mom. I’m thankful they caught the person responsible and I truly pray for healing for all involved in this crash🙏✨😢 Everyone is always in such a damn hurry these days!! 😖😔
