Thank you so much for this! I just found my old cassette tape recorded off of the radio (WHFS) on Christmas Day that year and remembered that I hit the record button after the song started. Totally agree this version is the best, and it is simply a brilliant and moving song. I think I first heard this when Loudon dropped in on NPR as he often did back in those days.
