We actually recorded our EP album 5 days before they recorded Cowboys From Hell, for Atco Records, at their studio in Pantego, Texas. While we were mixing, they were setting up the studio. Darrell and Vinnie hung out several times to give their 2 cents on the mix. Their dad, Jerry, was doing our recording and mixing. Jerry Abbott "The Elden" was GREAT! We had to come back to the studio many times for all kinds of paperwork and art work approval. Jerry showed us the contracts they had sign, cover art ideas and the guys let us sit in while they recorded. At the time nobody had any idea what was about to happen next. They were just 4 cool guys who wanted to be rock stars and they did it! RIP Darrell and Vinnie.

Al Jourgensen says that he and his band Ministry were playing a gig down the street from where Dimebag was shot on the same night. In the middle of the gig a group of about 15 bodyguards suddenly surrounded the Ministry stage, and with that he knew something bad had happened. He went straight from the gig to the local hospital to see Dimebag but it was too late, as stated in his biography 'Ministry: The Lost Gospels According to Al Jourgensen'.

The amount of emotion he released with his playing was second to none, dude has a very very deep understanding of what music truly is, yea he’s a drunk red neck but deep down he was a genius! the guys who play fast and technical might seem impressive at first but get old fast, I can listen to Dime every single day and never get tired of it, because his playing connects emotionally on a primal level, when he plays live you can feel the soul pouring out note by note into the crowd as their faces melt off, it’s outer worldly and very few players in existence have been able to have that understanding of music, it almost gives me goosebumps

Phil’s voice makes me miss my home state of Louisiana.... that south Louisiana accent. Makes me miss home.

Ha ha, I saw that bucket sh!t when Pantera was in SF with White Zombie. He was not well, pale and sweaty, probably sick and looked it. Played amazing regardless, show was incredible, and mid way he walked to side of stage, dropped shorts, and blam in a bucket. Spotlight was too slow to notice. Stagehand was more surprised than anyone when he got that bucket handed to him with a smile. Classic.

That’s crazy hahah I’ve been to a lot of shows (of course never saw pantera) but I have yet to see something as crazy as a band member shitting while onstage lol. That tells me that pantera was something else lol.

I was never a Pantera fan, although I did dig their version of Planet Caravan and I like Walk, Cowboys from Hell and Cemetery Gates...That said, I love these interviews with Phil. He cracks me up; plus, there's that short series where he's training a guy to become a metal lead singer...pretty goddamn funny.
