I went for the first time this year and yes it is very hard much more so than I imagined, however it was undoubtedly worth it and I would certainly go again. You only have to talk to people if you want to so dont let that stop you

I am sure as long as you are truly sorry for any wrongs you have committed, your God will forgive you no matter what, and there is no need for any vigils, fasting and other things to give you pain and to show to your God that you are sorry.

Well as a protestant I never really understood it. I am an Anglican, and I never understood Catholic pilgrimages. I went to Knock Shrine many times when visiting friends and family in Ireland, I have to say that shrine is amazing. You been there too?

No, never been to Knock. Thanks for the reply. It is not a catholic thing per se .. many of the world religions suggest fasting - prayer - meditation - and times the keeping of the vigil. I have no doubt that those that complete the Haj feel wonderful after it... as I say it is something that can only be understood by being there... I know it sounds loco - I appreciate that.. but take it from me it is not ... it is restorative...uplifting... look at how happy all the people who speak on the video are.. you may feel that is staged...I don't know but I can echo all their feelings... I only watched this for the first time today... watched all three parts... go with God John with an open heart and mind...

When I went to Knock Shrine, as a protestant, I have concerns over the doctrine of Mary, I will be honest, I don't believe in the Immaculate Conception or Assumption, but there was something very special in the air at that shrine, open to all, even if we disagree in certain doctrines.

Fantastic, fair play to you. My aunt who goes most years went with me so a bit of company is nice alright.
