Rip Louie. Thank you for all the laughs since you were on Johnny Carson Show Nov. 20, 1984. I wish you were still here. Love, sincerely. A Florida fan

He will always be my favorite stand up ever, from his first Johnny Carson until today and forever the greatest.

I saw Louie Anderson preform live in Spokane, Washington a couple of years back. He is a super guy and funny and very heartfelt. Everyone in the audience loved him.

The world was a more fun place with Louie in it.

Anyone else watch his cartoon back in the day?

No but I'm watching it now on you tube. I was a working college student who never watched tv back then.

No but I'm going to watch it. I believe he did the voice of himself as a kid and the Dad too. And Edie McClurg is in the cast.

Louie was a childhood HERO to both my brother and me. Our family/home life wasn't always the best, but Louie gave us an alternate language through which we could process our distress: we learned how to LAUGH at the difficulties rather than living in fear. We had both of his two big stand-up specials memorised verbatim (circa 1987?), and we borrowed/commandeered phrases and punchlines, inserting them into our own situation--and we truly had no idea how hard Louie really had it back in the day! He didn't dwell on the details/the hurt or spew in a negative, biting way. He finds humour from a place of love; what an extraordinary gift... thank you for sharing yourself with the world, Louie.

Ingrid-fong Daley I just discovered Louie last night, and am so glad I stumbled upon him!! It was a great stand up comedy from the early days. I'm just wondering what his childhood was like, when you stated you didn't know how hard he had it in his childhood. Just would love to know. Thank you!

I love Louie. I've learned so much about what a loving, open and openly imperfect person he was. I share that urge to serve others and I didn't know how. He's a great influence, I could never imitate his style but I can take from his philosophies.
