I really like your teaching style! Giving those "heads up's" for stickings or patterns that are a little tricky and/or challenging is a great idea. Very helpful to those of us that are not quite masters of our instrument yet!

Louie, I've always wondered how high you sit at the drums. I can't really tell from these videos. It would be great if you did a video where you showed us your set up and why you set everything up the way you do. I love you channel, James
@louiepalmerdrums8 жыл бұрын
Hi james - I go through all that stuff on the members site at playbetterdrums.com - but in terms of how high, I sit fairly low compared to most (seat height and compared to drums). I sit with hips just above knees, so there is a slight slope to my thighs. I like to sit 'in' the drums rather than on top.

Do you keep clicking sticks or are you hitting the rims? Either way, good on you for not doing thirty takes until it's "perfect." It's good when teachers show students they make mistakes too. I met Dave Lombardo a couple decades ago and asked him a bunch of double-bass questions and I was surprised when he told me, "I don't always do it on the first take." Too often we think that if we're not 100%, ALL THE TIME, we're failing.
@louiepalmerdrums8 жыл бұрын
Probably hitting the rims....no one is perfect!

In This video Louie is playing Yamaha Hybrid Maple, but he is a Gretsch endorser for everything he's 'official' on (artists' recordings.etc.) I believe
@ofdrumsandchords6 жыл бұрын
I play these drums and it produces very few harmonics, even with ambassador heads. I've known richer sounds, but you don't step too much on others players sound with it on stage, and it's low without needing big sizes. Good, esay to tune but definitely not my favorite kit.

They don’t have too much tone?
@larrytate16575 жыл бұрын
I tried them and disagree. Loads of tone, in fact needed moongel on the 10 tom and floor tom. Very good drums,

Thats your opinion only , NOT a statement of fact . And by the way who made you the voice of ALL drummers ? And opinions are like arseholes . everybody has one !
@drumsanddrumming8 жыл бұрын
of course it is my opinion- since I`m the one who wrote it
@robertocalderonabogado14276 жыл бұрын
For me its Evans. when I removed the Remo heads it was a huge difference, the Level 360 technology makes the drum resonate more accurate and natural with the head, also easier to tune up. It is an eternal discussion among drummers, like Canon and Nikon for photographers or Bose Vs. JBL in audio.
