For those who didnt know: Last year, Louis Mclung accused an internet artist known as MrPumpG of being a pdf, he even named his video as "this artist likes to touch kids a lot". Thing is, the artist was irresponsible at worst but there were no allegations of going that far, it was mostly an accusation based on vibes. Louis defended himself, claiming "it wasnt slander because everything he said in the video was alleged". He then later deleted the video, never issued an apology and pretty much got away with it.

To be honest, this entire situation made me realize how impressionable I was on social media. I discovered Louis not too long ago through KZbin recommendation since I loved commentary channels. Right off the bat, his attitude really rubbed me the wrong way, and I was always clicking off from his videos no matter how intriguing the topic was. He just had this theatrical, smug attitude that made him insufferable to watch but I didn't think of it seriously. Around the same period, I discovered Dankyjabo. He didn't strike me as that remarkable personality-wise, but I did think his videos were pretty entertaining. Fast forward, KZbin suddenly recommended Louis' expose video in my feed. I saw Dankyjabo in the thumbnail and thought "wait, what did this guy do?" - cause I thought he was kind of cool (Keep in mind that I wasn't that familiar with either of them). Again, I couldn't finish the video. It was supposed to be a serious video but he kept making jokes, exaggerating his reactions, and overall being obnoxiously smug that I just couldn't sit through it. I remember listening to his points and thought none of his arguments were solid, not to mention his failure to provide concrete proof. At the end, I remember thinking "This is kind of a petty thing to make an expose video about" but I still ultimately felt wary of Dankyjabo, especially since I also watched Katiclyzm. Then Dankyjabo responded and it all came to light. His response was very articulate and cleared all of my doubts. Honestly realized how easy it is to be fed lies as an audience without even noticing it. It sucks I guess, cause these KZbinrs have a significant following that trusts them for their reports. Even if they apologized, they still lost their credibility as a commentary channel.

I love Turkey Tom and I appreciate his jokes, and 20yrs ago, liberals I knew would have enjoyed this same type of humor. And I’m a “feminist” in the old school, original meaning (like, we should be able to vote and be paid the same if we’re equally qualified and doing the same job description as a male) and not in the backwards-moving-insane-GenZ-notion-uber-woke meaning of “feminist.” Anyway, I laughed out loud watching Dankyjabo’s beef curtain joke in his Smart School Boy video, because it was funny and I didn’t expect it. That’s where humor exists, is in the realm of awkward and unexpected. LOL, I won’t give a dissertation on humor, like Louis and Kat did on misogyny- but those two are taking a big dump on the credibility of democrats/liberal/left politics. Some of us have brains, tho it doesn’t look like it lately. But I’m a confident 40 yr old, and don’t think that the standards of beauty for women today are getting more unrealistic. Ummm, sorry, I was around in the late 90s and early 2000s, dealing with my own body dismorphia (I was thin and fit, but thought I was a fatty) whereas TODAY, those standards would have put me more at ease. So, Kat, I’m sorry - but you don’t know what you’re talking about. Stop with the constant victimization of the female species. We’re doing well, how about we enjoy it.

I'm about the same age as you, also skew liberal, and do think the pressure for all women to basically look alike (either like a Kardashian / Hadid who has had a lot of work done or like any random middle-aged actress who has had a lot of work done) is very silly. But I don't think the pressure to conform in general is "worse" than it was when we were younger, and I also think the way to solve the problem is ... for people to touch grass. Apparently that is all quite mean of me. Especially the "touching grass" part. But, truly, people are healthier in every way when we interact less with the internet and with people who are terminally online

Feminism still is working for equal rights tho? That has stayed consistent. It just has more people cause we've started to aknowledge more people are underprivileged and getting mistreated. For the majority though it's still mainly equality for women it just acknowledges trans people exist and includes them. But yeah I don't think things for women have got worse I think there's still massive issues. It just presents differently with the internet and societal expectations. Some things have gotten better and others have stayed the same and some have gotten worse. Depends on your perspective.

The way Katgirlwhatever lied about the call and the amount of BS spun from literal nothing, it can’t just be normal deluded “you spent too much time online in echo chambers” stuff. Like, in Praise of Shadows I can at least see where he thought he was coming from given his echo chambers and biases. Most of the things he said had something there to base his ill concieved points on someone from a quick and vague look at their content. He’d look at someone’s stuff, make an assumption to write them off as a bad person, then move on. The stuff Louis and Cat did, that takes digging. They would have had to look through all of his backlog to cherrypick stuff, and in doing so would have gotten a decent amount of context that they’d have to deliberately ignore. This was a targetted attack by them
