Reminds me of my childhood in the NOI in the early sixties. We listened to brother Louis’ song, Coltrane, other jazz with brother Malcolm - who brought our parents into the NOI - speaking in the den on the issues of the day with my dad, brother William. My mother, known as sister Ruth, was with sister Betty, in the living room in our home. These were known as “Unity” meetings. Great memories. Thanks, for sharing.👍🏾

The Minister and Brother Harry Belafonte are great and long time friends to this day because they were contemporaries in the Calypso genre of the 1950's. The creator and your spirituality are divine and are yours to keep for as long as you live and far into the hereafter. No man, woman or child is so great as to rob you or ANYONE of that! In 1975 after the departure of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, his Son took leadership and changed it over to follow Arab Traditional mainstream Islam. Muhammad Ali like most others at that time simply followed the direction of the Leadership. Besides from the Early 60’s until then he was BEST UNDER THE Leadership of Elijah Muhammad. You can’t argue with that. If it wasn’t for Elijah Muhammad you wouldn’t have the courageous, Islamic, black revolutionary Muhammad Ali to stand up against White Supremacy and the Vietnam War. Funny how you mention Malcom’s inherited Sunni Muslim name and then compare him to frauds like Fard Muhammad, Elijah Muhammad, and Louis Farrakhan. They aren’t Muslims but an entirely different religion. That being the main reason why Malcolm left the NOI and converted to orthodox Islam
