Using stunning footage of the fortress and a re-creation of the battle of 1745, this documentary brings to life the siege and fall of Louisbourg, a turning point in North American history. Located on Cape Breton, in what is now Nova Scotia, Louisbourg was the greatest French fortress in North America and a key military stronghold. Once thought impregnable, it fell in a matter of weeks when in 1745, merchants from New England raised a force of 4,000 men and set out to take it.

I'm a history teacher, and I had to give up showing this video to my class because there are commercials literally every 4 minutes. Absolutely outrageous. That's more than on television.

It's funny, I live about 35 minutes from the fortress and I think we were brought there like two times in all the years of going to school in the area😂

What shocks me is so few Americans really know about Louisbourg. It is literally America's first successful military campaign against Europeans independent of Crown support. This is literally the beginning of America's military history and one can even argue that the American invasion of Normandy in 1944 as well as our landings in the pacific started Here. It can even be argued that this was the first straw leading to America's war of independence since Britain literally gave it back to France when the war ended.

Is that really the way a french man wears his beret? I thought it was on the side more. He looks a bit silly with it like that.
