About my method, I am 100% sure about this part: He does show up after you killed 13 ghosts (after finishing Boss Takamine at forest area. However, after he shows up, it will depend on how lucky you are to catch him. Last night I spent a half hour to look for him but I just couldn't find. Thanks for your precious info! Didn't know he also shows up at the fireplace on the 2nd and 3rd night.

@AntonioTomasic honestly, in asia it is also called fatal frame. Japan released it in korea as the first so called "beta" try. Then we distribute it to america onto europe. erm.. i have no idea why im talking abt this lol

I found mine in the backyard (well area) as well. But the spirit's music was loudest in the cherry atrium in the corner meeting the library and kimono room by the window. I searched everywhere slowly and entered a couple save rooms and the music went away and the normal music played, making me think I despawned the spirit, I saved anyway. When I returned to cherry atrium the music came back and loudest in the same spot. I went backwards all the way to the entrance, and it was the only save camera that had a red light and was unuseable but the spirit wasn't there. I thought the spirit spawned out of bounds or in an inaccessible area like the video, but I continued my search I only had the backyard, fish tank room, and forest path left to check. When I made it to the backyard there was audible music, but also spirit voices! The filament light turned yellow and as I got closer I was attacked by the spirit. I ran off and looked around but I could not see it. I entered the camera viewfinder and scanned and was able to charge up the spirit gauge meaning I was looking at it. The spirit was about 1 ft. underground, not visible. It actually wasn't that hard to find. This video made me think it would take hours, I guess I just got lucky maybe? I was originally just grinding points from random spirit encounters for the camera upgrades, and trying to find this spirit that despawned because I ran to try to excorcise it in a more open area. I found out about this spirit when I was looking at stuff on game forums and Google. I looked at a list of spirits to try to find which one I could've missed, and checked if grinding was feasible. That's when I learned of this spirit researched it, and found this video. I believe I already had taken out exactly 13 spirits anyway. After I calculated the difference of spirits driven shown on the menu and set spirits driven. 11 Set encounters up to Takamine (not including the one as Miku's brother.) I had 24 total so 24 total - 11 Set = 13 random. I also grabbed the Buddha statue so the video made me think I might have messed up but it was fine, you can grab it you just can't complete the puzzle using it of course, because it proceeds the game to the next night.

Also the 13 random spirit excorcisms I completed were not all after Takamine! I had 24 total excorcisms at the time I found the hand spirit, and I did have some random encounters between some of the set ones before Takamine! You do not have to excorcise the 13 random spirits after Takamine! You just have to have 13 random encounter spirit excorcisms completed at any moment. I do not know if you even have to have driven Takamine either. I believe you don't, because I don't see why you would have to if random spirits driven before Takamine count towards the hand spawn. Nevertheless I had driven him already at the time. You might as well proceed to excorcising him anyway because it's likely you will encounter random ghosts as you proceed with the set encounters anyway, so it's much more efficient and fast game playthrough completion timewise. Plus some of the set encounters take place in spots the hand can spawn so you have to complete those before it can spawn. For example the spirit of assistant tomoe hirasaka in the backyard will prevent the hand spirit from appearing there if not driven yet. And anyway I'm not confirming it, so you should excorcise Takamine to be safe!

I found that ghost to in the first night in the PS 2 Version. I just thought...what the hell O_o. It wasn´t on the ghost list and I pretty much freaked out...the hand didn´t come out either...weird thing...

Hello! I am on my first playthrough and need at least three shots for each ghost. I'm afraid I'll run out of film if I capture thirteen of them. Would it be better to do this on a second playthrough (if there's such an option)? Thanks in advance!

You can always reload 30 exposures of the weakest film you find. But yes, it would be a better idea to do this when you have a shitload of film to use, OR manage to unlock the Null upgrade, which gives infinite film.

@pastrana288 I don´t thing so... I didn´t defeat Takamine anyway... but I thing I was on the way to do that... But I wanted to "level up" my camera before that. I think it was more luck that I got it than anything else because I really didn´t see that thing. If the floor hadn´t flickered were the ghost was and the music didn´t chance I wouldn´t have found it. I was standing above it too at one point because I didn´t see it and it still didn´t attack. So pure luck that I got it with the camera.
