My grandpa drink this beer as a native from San Antonio for decades. I’ve gone back-and-forth between Bud Ice, Budweiser and recently after moving to Corpus, Lone Star. Great smooth all day beer, lower price with a great kick. Thanks Ron!

@@J155P - It is basically a PBR, but slightly more watery and a little smoother. Also less sweet and doesn't have that funky, copper penney aftertaste u get sometimes with PBR!

I really miss this beer! I was able to buy it at an import shop in the West End of Glasgow back in 2015-2016 then it disappeared just like Schlitz did... annoying as i would buy this beer a lot if it was available and also imported

Lone Star never tasted so good as when I attended a basment concert in one of my city's famous local music bars known as the "karova milk bar" (after a clockwork orange) It was a touring Japanese hardcore punk rock band I'd never heard of called "Babylon Breakers." BEST concert I've ever attended in my life. No joke. Incredible music, incredible energy, incredible people. The gig was sponsored by Lone Star and the band got free beer while the rest of us got it heavily discounted. By the end of the night long after the show was over, I hung out with the very inebriated and jolly band and we drank together and bonded over music despite not speaking each other's language. Awesome moment.

I'm not sure what it is but as macro brewers go I am ok with Pabst products for whatever reason. Maybe its because I grew up with National / Heilman products being brewed down to road from my house. This one sounds about the same as I remember it. Nice review Brother!!! CHEERS!!! DJ

Just tried this weekend on a stay in TX. Very well rounded beer, sweet, malted, hoppy. Reminds me a lot of PBR, with a slight edge of hop bitterness compared. Crushable beer. I must've drank a whole 12 pack in 2 days hahaha.

Nice review. I enjoyed the history behind this one. I tried this one for the first time. I found this one to be very flavorful, yeasty, and bready. Compared it to Miller High Life, and also found it to be superior in terms of flavor, breadiness. Surprisingly much better than I expected. One of the better adjunct lagers on the market.

My daughter brought me an 18 pack from Texas recently and I am enjoying it quite a lot. I would put it in the top 5 AAL beers in the U.S. Kind of like PBR in that is has a light but pronounced hop flavor.

Used to enjoy Lone Star when I lived in Houston briefly back in 2014 and stumbled across a 6 pack yesterday in Richmond VA so I jumped on it as it’s rarely seen on the east coast. Solid, above average AAL as most of the pabst family of brands are!

I haven't tried Lone Star in years. I had a couple when I was last in Houston Texas and I thought it was good, but I can't remember how it tastes. They don't sell in here in Pennsylvania. Would you say it tastes like PBR or High Life?

Lone star hasn’t been made in San Antonio in Years. I’ve had MORE Lonestar and Pearl than Lots of people in Texas Hot, cold and rodeo beer style. Now I’d have to say Lonestar would have to be shlushy cold to drink. New Orleans is TOO much fun.... I think? I don’t remember much. EVERYONE should do a Mardi Gras 4 or 5 or 12 times in their life. And take 20 cases of Lonestar or Pearl with ya

Lone Star was my go to beer when I used to visit my sister in TX 2005-10. I found some Shiner 98 before that which i really liked but I think that they discontinued it. I did get some Lone Star here in FL for awhile but I have not seen it lately, not even at Total Wine. But Lone Star is a very pleasant and drinkable brew.

On your next road trip up the Atlantic Coast I personally invite you to stop in NC and do a "Legacy" beer taste challenge. Recently, I've started to merge beer finding into my motorcycle rides to the mountains and Sunday I got some Lone Star (6-pack bottles) at Food City in Galax, VA on US 58/221. My current portfolio - in addition to Lone Star - includes: Old Style, Natty Boh, Schlitz, Country Club Malt Liquor and Iron City. In the Piedmont Triad of NC where I live we also have a thriving craft beer scene (Natty Greene's, Foothills, Red Oak, Sarum, Pig Pounder and Gibb's Hundred breweries are all located nearby). P.S.-I think Lone Star is a good, solid AAL and tastes a bit less sweet & adjunct-driven than some of its rivals. Food City had Genesee Beer for $12.99 for a 30-pack of cans, but neither my backpack nor my back was up to the task to lug it home.

i'm a big fan of budget beers my brother in Texas always praises how good this stuff is for a budget beer.when i went down there this past holidays i bought a case it was disappointing this stuff is pretty of putting taste like liquid corn husk syrup.

In the mid 90's when Stroh's bought Lone Star they brewed it at the (now shuttered) Schlitz brewery in Longview Texas. It's always been a average beer. It tastes best from tap and with food. It also was a budget priced beer for years, but when Pabst.inc started promoting it to college hipsters they also raised the price.
