My hometown and childhood home in Oregon burned down a very similar way on a insanely windy day in September 2020. I’ve been living in Colorado for almost two years and I am devastated that the same thing happened here. I lost my three cats in the oregon fire and I just wanted to say my heart goes out to everyone who lost pets yesterday. I am still not okay to this day about losing my entire childhood items/pictures/belongings and most importantly my three family members. Don’t listen to the people who say “it’s just things, at least you’re alive”, they don’t get it. If anybody needs support or someone to listen I’m here. You really don’t know how it feels until it happens to you.💔💔💔

Usually we hear about fires like this destroying mountain communities, houses further apart amongst trees. This is the first time I know of where this happened in a suburban-type area. I'm doubtful anything could have stopped the fire the way it was going, unless the buildings were made of metal and surrounded by hundreds of feet of pavement. My mom was thinking of airplanes stored in hangars at the nearby Rocky Mountain Metro airport, which are in metal buildings surrounded by hundreds of feet of pavement, so that's probably really the only thing that is safe. Maybe dense urban areas of mostly brick or concrete buildings and very little trees or grass would be safe, but I wouldn't count on that.

(Update: as of 12/31/21 number of hosues destroyed has grown to 1,000+ Still no reported casualties. Fire is not contained, but it isnt growing at the rate it was.) For those confused, here is a summary: This fire was/is currently on an unstoppable rampage through metro Colorado. Over 1000+ homes destroyed. Entire cities... big cities.. have been leveled to the ground. Couldn't bring in any form of air support due to the 70 to 110 mph winds and extremely low visibility. Most destructive fire ever in Colorado. Luckily we have hope of snow coming tonight. No deaths are yet reported, likely won't stay that way for long... This fire started when a wind gust upwards of 110 ripped a powerline out of the ground and it landed in the brush, igniting it. Considering we haven't had any significant moisture since summer it spread uncontrollably quick. IF YOU ARE BEING TOLD TO EVACUATE, PLEASE DO!!! A lot of deaths that happen in a fire like this are from people not evacuating. SO PLEASE DO!!!! And no, this was not a bombing, no space lasers, no arson. It was the wind blowing over live power lines. I was literally there so ya'll can stop making conspiracy theories.

Did your friend have a smart meter in his house? If not, maybe that saved his structure.

How did the steel beams warp and twist from a house fire? They are part of the foundation, meaning most of the flammable fuel is above and heat rises. Every house was burned to the ground? Cars on the street with windows most likely closed burnt to a crisp. This isn’t normal.
@blakelarsen37432 жыл бұрын
exactly. steel beems dont melt and warp at wildfire temps, not close at all. but microwave energy waves can absolutely do that, while leaving wood in tact due to that same energy type only drying woods moisture out, not vaporizing it.

Heat trapped in houses and especially basements can make house fires much hotter than forest fires. It’s sort of like your house is an oven. Also the high winds were stoking flames sort of like a bellows in a blacksmith’s

Hopefully everyone got out safe and well. Are there any thoughts about what started the Marshall fire?

Downed power lines west of Superior.
@tomproulx132 жыл бұрын
I live about 30 miles north and they are saying it started from the high winds knocking trees down into power lines and it’s been so dry the power lines basically ignited the ground right away.

Wow thanks for posting. I was going to go fly this morning but with snow coming in not too sure anymore.

Good thing you didn't....there's a TFR in effect and he violated it by flying there - the TFR was in effect for several hours before his illegal flight (no, he didn't get permission, no matter what he says).

@@mikebelanger4165 Just because it was filed doesn't mean it was in effect. It was filed at 1am. Took effect at 7 am. Stop spreading hate. The pilot posted pics of his FAA approval for a two hour flight. Stop being a karen.

*sighs* all of that destruction in under 24 hours... I pray to all the people that had their house and/or people they know's house get lost. One of the fires got really really close to my grandmother's house, but luckily it didn't hit it.

I noticed at least 9 differences between these fire scenes and those of the the CA wildfires. 1.) There was NO obliterated stone, concrete, or terra cotta present. 2.) NO warped/twisted structural steel. 3.) NO molten metal objects in the yards. 4.) NO melted vehicle rims pooling or flowing down the streets. 5.) NO 100% combustion of all burnable structural materials, leaving a pile of ash like a charcoal BBQ All of which requires an enclosed blast furnace environment of 2000+ degrees. 6.) NO surgical targeting of scattered structures. 7.) NO tress burning from the inside out (requires a direct lightning strike which typically causes the tree to explode via rapid steam production of internal moisture). 8.) NO path of fire travel that defies the laws of physics. Fire, like water and electricity, will take the least path of resistance EVERY time. 9.) NO vulnerable vegetation consistently left untouched. Here's WHY these differences exist between this fire and those of the CA "wildfires": kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5S3Xnhjr71_oqs

I heard over 600 on the news....
@ilovetheocean122 жыл бұрын
It’s going to be well over 600, my guess is 900-1,000. This looks like part of the east side of town and hasn’t been counted yet - the 580 total on the news is just the west side.
