Akai LDP8 seems very mappable but doesn't have transport control. Korg NanoKontrol? Specifically, I want to 1) rec 2) undo 3) go to loop start and try again.

Glad you did a review. I've been looking at this all year for Ableton. The new live version might be the one. My problem with any of these controllers is they often get abandoned by the developer and then you're stuck with a paperweight. Im a designer and Creative director so there are a few design programs i’d use this with. I'm trying to abandon Adobe so if use them with the Affinity suite of design tools.
@SanjayC4 жыл бұрын
That is a risk, good point. But it does look like they are investing in this a lot. I hope they keep doing it. What are you using now?
@umanoid15234 жыл бұрын
@@SanjayC I'm using Novation controllers and maschine mini and Jam. They take up a lot of desktop space and are still fairly limited in Ableton and useless in other apps. I also use a gaming mouse that you can bind macros to the additional buttons which has been great in Ableton for my most used actions like Browse and show effects/ clips. Years ago I used a gaming keypad (The Nostromo) which was abandoned by the developer. I loved that controller. While it was built for games you could make your own mappings and macros to other software, so I used it in Photoshop and After Effects. I've been looking at gaming keypads again (Razer bought the Nostromo but has also dropped software development) so I'm still basicly researching and trying to figure out what's worth spending the money on. The biggest hurdle I'm finding with the controllers is breaking all of my old bad habits of using a mouse and keyboard and using the new shortcuts. I've also been testing / using IPad apps like touchable but as long as it's been around its constantly broken.

This seems like a good aid, but i'm curious how easy it is to move around in Ableton while ALSO accessing plug-ins (i have tons of NI) and effects. How do you combine it with the controllers on the keyboard? can you manually link different parameters to either keyboard and Loupedeck, or are you 'bound' to the factory presents of the knobs and controllers...sorry if i'm all over the place, but this has been bugging me for quite a while..thanks, Edgar

I am starting out and there are so many sites for samples & plug ins it can be a bit confusing! Some sites are very expensive for the samples which I always question and ask myself are they better and worth that amount of money or would I be paying over the odds and just stick to cheaper ones.
