i have a 30x one I think that I bought from Pen Chalet years ago. I use mine to inspect the nib when I first get a pen. I also use it to admire the work on the nib. i love beautiful looking nibs. Quite informative video.

Nice! So you still find the 30x appropriate for looking at a nib? Can you seen the whole nib in focus at one glance or is it so magnified you would only seen a party very large and clearly?
@ironmic9244 Жыл бұрын
@@fountainPENdulum Depends on the size of the nib. A #5 just fits. But when it come to checking the tines, and the polishing a higher magnification is better. I like mediums and broads and the higher magnification helps to identify baby's bottom.

I tried clicking the link for the grobet, but it seems unavailable now. Have you ever compared these brand name loupes to the sub-10 dollar 30x LED loupes? I have the latter, and it's mostly useful for checking to see if there are fibers stuck between tines or misalignment. I don't think it's good enough to check for babys bottom. I find the lighting element essential.

Thanks, I checked the grobet links and it seems the Amazon link for Canada is unavailable and the others are good. There was no other available link currently so hopefully it gets restocked... I haven't purchased any other loupes other than the 10x BelOMO. When I was looking to purchase one and did research this came recommended by many Nibmeisters so that's what I decided to get. The only thing I would change is not following the recommendation for a 10x and get a higher magnification. It has suited my needs to be well made, and good performance while being minimalistic and compact. If anyone has any sub ten dollar 30x loupes that are solid recommendations let us know!

Belomo loupes are unavailable at the moment. It is a state owned company from Belarus, which also makes gun sights for the Russian army. They have been sanctioned.

Oh! How interesting. I haven't been impressed with the construction of mine. The magnifying glass itself seems good quality but not so much the casing.

@@fountainPENdulum What is wrong with the casing? From the pictures it looks very sturdy.

@mmzeeman the finish flakes off all over the place.
