I´m using a few new little mods that make the backgrounds in the periscope a bit darker than before. This should help my eyes during nighttime engagements. Those can be found on the OneAlex Discord. Thank you Okami_Sanjuro for making them :) I´m also using an updated version of the Merchant fleet mod created by Kyle9154. Freighters in convoy won´t turn on their searchlights during a nighttime attack, which is historically accurate. Thank you Kyle :)

That aircraft was a Gloster Gladiator. A few were still in service as second line fighters and also being used as squadron hacks for visits to other airfields etc. Malta used the few they had for a few weeks to defend the island until Hurricanes could arrive. The Gladiator could be adapted to carry a small bomb but more likely would just seize the opportunity to strafe before the uboat could dive in the hope of causing some casualties and degrading the uboat's effectiveness on patrol. They were only armed with rifle calibre machine guns.

I thought it might be a Gladiator. The increased speed over that of a Swordfish would track, too - The Gladiators were about 150 kmh faster on average, if I'm not mistaken...

Didn’t get a good look at it but the aircraft seemed to resemble a Gloster Gladiator which had a max speed of 260mph, a lot faster than the Fairey Swordfish as 140mph.

I think it was a gloster gladiator . Worlds fastest biplane at the time. Makes sense it would be on maritime patrol as they were outclassed in 1939. But still in service. They would also only be able to carry a very small bombload. Btw thank you for the wonderful videos . I very much look forward to watching them

I don´t think so. My great grandparents from my fathers-fathers side died in the war as civilians. I don´t know what fate the others had. Might be an interesting question for my grandparents.

@@Tonci87 My family was too young at the time to participate in it. I have a great-grandpa who fought in World War I, but nothing is known beyond that. If you do ever learn more about your family history, I'd love to hear about it, but of course that's totally up to you. I love your videos nonetheless!
