I love that crazy awesome small town full of colorful characters, some with lots of secrets, some who are just weird. I'm not from around there, but it made me feel like all weird small towns are pretty much the same everywhere, no matter where they are in the world. But if I had my pick of anywhere in the world to be born and grow up, I'd want to live in Palomar.

You’re right. That Locas story is humbling.

"First appearance of Tank Girl" Man, that's a deep cut. And holy crap, just going over Love and Rockets with a fine tooth comb REALLY makes you appreciate the Hernandez brothers level of talent and skill.

I’ve managed to read some Love and Rockets collections digitally but man seeing these books really makes me want to get the physical issues. Thanks to Cartoonist Kayfabe for introducing Los Bros to me in the first place though!

Forreal! I had a philosophy professor that swore by Love and Rockets, and when Ed and Jim talked about the series I chalked it up as kismet and dove into the work.

I grab everything Los Bros does! Wouldn't be doing comics without their inspirational nudge/shove!

Was only able to read Love and Rockets sporadically back in the day. Been picking up the trades as of late and loving them. Any look at the Hernandez's stuff is welcomed. Keep it up. You guys rock.

I nooded the whole time watching this review. I've been reading a collection of heartbreak soup. And man, I love the way Hernandez portraits those vibrant latino personalities, even while some deep wrong stuff is happening at Palomar, he keeps it all together in such a way that makes you smile after each story (he even manages to use that subtle magical realism!) Now I appreciate those works even more! You guys are great!

Yes!! Always enjoy some Love and Rockets!! I think Ismael is the younger Hernandez bro, he's also the bassist for Dr. Know.

You guys should do Hawkeye #11 by fraction and Aja. I’d love to hear your thoughts on those. Also with the show out I’m sure people would be interested

Can you imagine what the Crumb Bros could have done, had two of them not lost their marbles... Older brother had insane original styling before he left the planet and just did volumes and volumes of nonsense writing, and then nothing but live with his mother for decades. While younger brother did small but amazing paintings in the San Fran slum house, while being a street beggar... Tragic loss, really. As extraordinary as R. Crumb was, he lacked great writing much of the time, beyond his self hatred and perversities... whereas either brother have immensely fascinating minds, which just faded away into obscurity... and suicide...

Look, I'm not a fan of people gushing and hyperbolizing. This is where it is fitting, with Love & Rockets... Unqualified, the greatest American Comics, ever.
