"I can't get off this stage without being gay!" Love love love Andrea Gibson. Sometimes I feel like I can't breathe when I listen to the words. I've heard 'For Eli' a hundred times, and it's always hit me, but this time I burst into tears. Thank you, Andrea.

Uh... I'm a singer, song writer, I also write poetry that's what music is. I also write my screen plays and theater. This is amazing, but I am beginning to understand I don't think I could do this, it's much like Rap and I can't talk that fast. So for all the poets who do this kuddos... It's not an easy thing to do, just like some can't play and sing at the same time... It's amazing words, and knowing how this feels... As I am also an American Veteran... I know and have felt all 3 poems before.

Beautiful all around--in so many ways! i'm going to post that last poem on facebook for my Baptist relatives to take in--because we gotta preach to more than our own choir. i don't think i've ever heard a more beautiful, uplifting, eloquent argument put forward for marriage equality. Just beautiful...

Andrea, You may never see this comment. But I have to try to reach you anyway. You give me a great gift by your first poem. I have not even watched the rest of this video yet. I cannot believe the beauty that you have brought forth to me. I can't believe it. Yet, there it is. In the most perhaps cliche, yet humble way I tell you thank you. Thank you for softening my granite heart with your angelic words. Thank you for restoring in me some sense of faith in the future of humanity.

Unless of course it is messing with your view of masculinity and femininity which our society seems to revolve around. In which case I would say that you need to realize that the world is changing and people are starting to step away from the gender norms more and more and sometimes people aren't cis but rather gender fluid, gender variant, or transgender. And as for art, Andrea also calls herself an activist.

Do you find joy in insulting other people? Because it sure looks like it. I don't give a fuck what you say to me because you don't know me. And whoa, chill with the caps lock. We all have our right to our own opinion but if your parents ever taught you something then you would know that sometimes you shouldn't say it because quite frankly it can be insulting and hurtful. Yes, you do have a right to state your opinion, as do i. But no, you cannot go around insulting everyone for your own joy.

@ClaireseLippincott This just goes to show "how powerful we are". As poets we have the power to scare the crap out of you, to say something so true and yet so frightening to your "belief". I help my father work as a counselor at the rescue mission in my city. And a majority of the men we talk to are veterans who have nowhere to go. As a soldier I am lucky that when I went "home" I had one to go to. It's not about whether it all says something to you, it's about that one part that does.

# DOOFSPEC 1 second ago @ClaireseLippincott please tell me you don't live in LA where we have skid row with the mentally ill, mothers with children or just all types young and old in the gutter.. aside from the her spoken word how is we have money for war but not our own people. the war will go on for a while if they brought everyone back home unemployment would create the greatest depression.

Firstly, I am not a chick. Secondly, loving women isn't the same thing as being attracted to women. Thirdly, you didn't really explain why it matters what she looks like. She has the right to be whatever she feels like being. Be it man, woman, or something in-between.
