Definitely a 'Southern' Italian sandwich. When I lived in NY, it would have been a spicy ham and provolone cheese. But that did make me hungry!

My husband loves this sw with Italian dressing and provolone cheese instead of Swiss. Toasted up good with the lettuce and tomato already on it, too. And don’t forget the hots!!! 😋

Oh yum! I think I would do pickled peppers, sliced, instead of the black olives. I love an Italian sub with assorted meat, red onion, lettuce, American cheese, tomatoes, hot pickled peppers and mayonnaise.

Brings back memories when I was a kid...sometimes we would have homemade sandwiches like this...with everything but the kitchen sink...on french bread....indeed comfort good!!! ❤❤ Looks so good!!!!

You could always press it down while it's heating, a couple of cast iron skillets should do the trick, and that'll make it easier to eat. I'm a stickler and just to be accurate, the bread was an American bread using an Italian recipe or baked in that style.

That sandwich looks so good, Paula. I am just going to settle for some homemade chicken noodle soup unless my doctor tells me anything different during my visit today. Hey, Paula. I just watched the story of you finding your Batts ancestors. I was told that the Batts family sailed and landed on the North Carolina coast in the early 1700's. Batt's still live there I wonder where your ancestor who was a planter came from. Interesting. God bless.
