I know exactly how you feel, it's been 4 years since we lost dad to covid, and there are those recipes that just can't be replicated,no matter who makes them, and my dad's was scalded lettuce and onions,and my grandma, her potato soup,noone, no recipe will ever taste like theirs did, so if you break down and cry during this video,trust me, we all understand ❤

@PaulaDeen just a few years before BUBBA passed away, some friends & I came to Savanna from So. Illinois for St Patricks Day. We inadvertently met Bubba during the festivities. He extended an invitation to us we couldn't refuse. He sent Big D to pick us up the next evening to take us to the Oyster House & treated us to the most wonderful meal!! I STILL crave the grilled oysters. ( the best i ever had) such a wonderful memory.

Interesting that you are calling this Crab Stew, here in Maryland we call it Cream of Crab (with a generous sprinkle of Old Bay) and in North Carolina it is called "She Crab" soup. Looks delicious Paula.

Here in Louisiana a stew would be brown base sauce....The crab stew you made would be called a crab soup with a white base....I make both and they are very delicious indeed!! WE Love white crab sauces here!! Yours looked so yummy!! Your brother would be so proud of you Paula! 🙂

I'm a 50 yo on disability due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and times are tight. We just celebrated Easter yesterday due to no money last week. Bless your heart, I know you miss your sweet brother so much. I love my little chopper so much. My cat has problems with her little mouth and I have a extra container and I put her food in it and get it finer for her to eat. How many kitty mom's would do that for their little fur baby? It is so funny, I put just a tiny bit in the top and she licks it clean, every single day. Is she spoiled, well of course she is. LOL Yes it is so hard making ends meet if you are retired. I have to really watch it when I go to the grocery store and I really miss all the good food I used to be able to buy. Social Security just does not go far. I enjoy watching you so much. I always watch you early in the morning to get my day going. You are a very special lady. I am so glad I found you on yt because my mother and I used to watch you every Saturday morning. She used to always say when you were making a good dessert, mmmm, that sounds so good. I think I will make that and she did. I grew up with desserts after every meal. No cake mix, it was always scratch cakes, just like I make in her memory and like I learned to make by helping her. She had a tiny pie pan and she always made us a tiny sample. We would cut it in half and eat it right out of the oven, boy, nothing is better than hot cake. I would always lick the beaters and the cake pan, of course there would be a little left in the pan for me. Nothing is better than good old cake batter. Paula, love you.

This sounds wonderful but I’d be so afraid of high cholesterol. I have very high cholesterol, so does my mother. We just couldn’t do it because of all the heavy cream and butter.

Wonderful recipe Paula. To those looking to find the crab base, try your local Asian market. I was able to find that and many other seafood bases at affordable prices. (If you’re like me and forgot you need the crab base and can’t wait for an Amazon delivery! 😂)

have made she crab soup. first time made with the heavy cream. 2nd time used half of cream with regular sweet milk. The full cream was just too rich. like u say paula first time recipe, second make it your own

Paula, for some reason the last few recipes that I’ve tried to print out have not been printable. There’s no buttons that say print or copy or anything blow the recipe there’s just a moving circle below the recipe where you usually print it out, so I’m not sure what’s going on, but you might want to check into it. I’m from the Chesapeake Bay area and I love crabs stew or anything crab so I was really wanting to make this today but I can’t cause I can’t print it out 😕😕
