Sorry lads but this song is a U2 song featuring BB King. Bono wrote the song. The hate for U2 is evident 😃 but it is their song. It was on the rattle and hum album when U2 dipped into American rock and roll and blues. See angel of Harlem and desire that also had a similar feel to them. BB King went on tour with U2 in Australia and New Zealand . It was called the lovetown tour. Bb king supported U2 then did a mini set with U2 during U2’s set .

They said that at the beginning. They know it's a U2 song. U2 are massive. Global success. BB King is less well known to the masses. However in guitar player circles, BB King is way up there, absolute legendary status. In this case U2 basically gave the man the stage, which is why he said something to the effect of "I'm glad it's BB King featuring U2".

BB performs the song with U2 on the movie Rattle and Hum. In addition to doing the song they are shown interacting and talking about the song. At one point, as Bono reads the lyrics to him, BB says to Bono 'mighty heavy lyrics for such a young man'. The performance is better too. Side note: I will never understand the anger over the album being preloaded on the iPhone. Even for non-U2 fans, all U2/APPLE did was give people something for free. Zero harm was done to anyone that purchased the iPhone with the album. Zero. None. Nada. Not in the slightest way. I could get it if the preload diminished the phone's performance somehow or people were secretly charged for the album. But to react the way people did doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm not a massive fan of U2 but I listened to the album on my iPhone and appreciated the kind guesture. It's a really shame that people used to just not listen or watch things they didn't like, you know. But now days if people don't like something they form a mob and remove it.

The most bizarre thing is that Apple were in control and they made the decision. But Apple fanboys are so weird they blamed the band instead of the company who made it happen. They'll look past anything for their corporate overlords.

You need to react to the live version of Love Rescue Me from the same tour, which also includes a verse from BB King. No idea why Bono gets hate for having a big ego on stage... that's part of being a huge rock star, and it's the same for Mick Jagger, Noel Gallagher and the rest of them...

Firstly I was a huge U2 fan in the late 80s through 90s. Not so much nowadays but if you want to follow the Irish theme you probably can’t go wrong having a closer look at Glen Hansard (The Frames/The Swell Season), especially as you mentioned you appreciate buskers.

If you’re still doing the whole Irish themed thing then a great film to check out is The Commitments - a fantastic music-based Irish film from the early 90s. Even just reacting to a clip of a couple of the songs from the film, there’s plenty on KZbin but it’s a great film all round.

Hi guys - Love BB King and was I fan of U2's early stuff - amazing live, saw them at T in the Park years ago, not so much a fan now though. By the way, I came across you guys by accident, I was browsing and yer sight popped up. Had a wee listen and loved what I was hearing (Paulo Nutini - Iron Sky) an amazing song and artist! Since then I've started tuning in regularly. Some songs that you might want to listen to if you haven't already; James - moving on (watch the video, it's fab) Glasvegas - It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry, Florence & the Machine - Dog Days are Over, The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger. I could go on and on, there's so many amazing songs out there. Anyways, best wishes fae Erika in Scotland

Not everyone cares about the Irish saints day, I'm English and as such I care about St Patrick as much as the Irish care about St George. Zero, zilch, nada. I hope you will indulge St George in the same way that you have St Patrick. As for this video, BB King is right up there with the best of them. In the original video, Bonio looks at BB wishing that he could sound like that. Stands back and awaits the slagging off from the Paddy's even though I've said nothing derogatory.
@petereastwood12 жыл бұрын
I'm English and know the dates for St Patrick's and St David's. Not the foggiest when St George's day is. And, you gotta hand it to the Celts, they have damn fine anthems too. Even if God Save The Queen is sung as its very best, it still sounds like you are at the back of a funeral procession for a man with few friends or family.
