Cinnamon, through all of these years, you have continually given me the confidence to paint. To put pencil to paper. To at least DO SOMETHING. I cannot thank you enough for that confidence. I grew up in a house of critics (except my cute mom) and so if anything I drew looked “wonky” my siblings (and sometimes my dad- thanks dad…🤣) would poke fun at it or make some snarky remark, that would deflate any confidence I may have built up. Thank you for the explanation of outsider art. Just today, I questioned my approach to my artwork as being too crafty and too paint night slanted. I was reminded by my teacher that design is a huge part of making art, regardless of the quality of materials or the source of your experience. I am proud to have learned to love and enjoy art the way I have, and it is valid and a great basis for further learning. I need to remind myself not to be intimidated by other artists who have studied and trained more formally than I have.

I realize your words and journey goes out to our whole community, however, I so often feel like your words are “to me”, no doubt because I needed them that day or in that moment. I am here, in my home in north GA, feeling “feels” for you and understanding getting overwhelmed with “too much” of anything - positive or negative. I have learned that I have to really limit my own negative thinking and what I take in. I feel deeply. I'm going to try to make this one. I'm in therapy now, after ending a 35yr marriage that became abusive. Digging deep to heal and learn to love myself. I love others unconditionally, with all my heart, but never myself. It's tough rn. I'm definitely not in the Self Love Club. ❤️
