In the 1980s I worked at the front desk of the Camlin Hotel in Seattle. A woman checked in late at night with the name of Bonnie Raitt. I told her that was the name of the woman who sang my favorite song ever written, Love Has No Pride. She said that’s me! I’m Bonnie Raitt and I sang that song. She and I ended up talking for what felt like forever that night, she was so lovely and generous. She told me she was starting over after a rocky time for many reasons where she lost her way and didn’t sing. I felt so happy that I got to meet her at the beginning of her second time in the music industry. I will never forget her kindness and generous spirit.

I remember the first time I saw Bonnie Raitt live was in 1971 at Stowe ,Vermont sitting so close I could reach out and touch her. I was so blown away by her voice and guitar playing. She was on the bill with Maria Muldar and Richie Havens. What a concert!!

Fifty years ago, I fell in love with this song, this album, and the voice of Bonnie Raitt. Fifty years have not diminished that love. God, this is beautiful still.

All I know is you make a “once in a lifetime” friend, once in a lifetime.

Back when I liked little more than hard rock, I loved this record, this song and the whole album. Now days, as my taste for the hard music continues to fade, this record remains a real treat to listen to.

In my youth when this came out, I was bartending. A customer came in and grabbed me and called me Bonnie! One of the highest compliments of my life.

I have to dedicate this song to Diane Ferren, the first woman to play it for me.

The closing track to Bonnie's album Give it Up, which she played acoustic guitar and piano.
