I feel like Spice is trying doing what people accused Amara of doing which is taking this very serious and real issue and using to get people on her side. You can't argue with a darker skinned person about colorism without sounding ignorant because truth be told they do face a lot of discrimination and disrespect just for their skin tone and she knows that. But the difference is Hollywood literally pointed out things about Amara that tied into her complexion and who she is ethincally like her hair, calling her a nutella queen etc. Unless something was edited out Spice made that mans critiques about her complexion not him. He could've meant change those horrible ass wigs, get a better makeup artist because she always looks like she''s sweating. or like you said Rox, wear clothes that fit because she clearly can't fit the shit she puts on without a gang of body shapers and waist trainers. Not to mention outside of the song and video with Tommie, her music wasn't talked about discussed or cared about at all last season. She was too busy making fat jokes and jumping in fights that had nothing to do with her sooooooooo why she's shocked she's not poppin off like that is beyond me.

This Spice chick I just don’t get. So when that skin lightening story broke cause of the pictures she posted she went on Breakfast Club and spoke her peace about how the photos came about and the song she was putting out. She basically advised with the song she wanted to shine the spotlight on Black Hypocrisy which is the name and basis of the song and the photos was just an “experiment” to see how the people would feel but the way the show is playing she really felt strong about wanting to bleach her skin and this wasn’t just an “experiment”... So while this definitely still a bit of an issue in our community, it seems like she just trying to stretch her spot on this show for the season cause she doing a bit much to me..

Spice painting her skin white to shed light on colorism is similar to people having hiv/aid awareness fundraisers as oppose to treatment and prevention fundraisers. The world knows about colorism, it’s not a new idea. What we need now, is a way to combat colorism. Spice could have promoted some talented dark skin singers and rapper and put them on the show and showcase their talent. But instead she decided to turn the conversation solely on herself and now the colorism conversation is switched to the spice conversation.

Hi TT Rox with Spice, she was signed to a record label in Jamaica for years and had been dropping hit after hit yet they did not want to market her more and allow her to release her album. They said because she was dark skinned it would be more difficult to market her. She can’t leave because she signed to a contract so she decided to do her music independently and try reach a larger audience (by coming on LHH) to basically share her story about her fight for success since the early 2000’s. She’s really big in Dancehall but there’s a lot of colourism that stops her from going further.

I also don't get why Spice got mad at the doctors. Hell that's protocol to get a psychological exam when you dealing with surgeries that can be permanent such as skin lightening, gender reassignment, hell even nose jobs requires some questions about why you want to do this. 1. The message is......Spice is trying to take care of her family. I’ve concluded that’s the motive behind a lot of these storylines the last couple of years. Some of us go to work at a desk.... some of those in front of the camera have to be creative. Not defending her, but this is her first season as a headliner. Let the Dancehall queen do her thing. 2. I truly respect and like Mimi, but she NEVER seems to be truly happy.....not sure she sees how she comes across on camera. She’s raising her daughter VERY well, but that’s the only time she ever seems to be in a positive space.

I am half jamaican. Skin bleaching is a BIG BIG HUGE issue in Jamaica. The majority who bleach are not ashamed to admit it and are even proud of it.. 'you see how mi browning' 'look how mi skin bright up' ... even Vybez Kartrl is a well known artist who has bleached. I'm almost sure some would have encouraged Spice to try it, to further her career... I can imagine them saying 'she too black' ... I think when Spice initially did the stunt it was for social media. .. and it did have an impact. Listen to the words of the song. The bigger message is for her own people. .. but it's a worldwide issue. #facts x love you miss rox x #roxstar

So Jamaican here. Some clarification: 1st your right Spice went totally left with how she portrayed her method on the show. What the guy said about change triggered her because that’s what she’s always been told- “you would make it if you were lighter”. To her change just equals all the things she’s been told about her skin tone both growing up, in the media and maybe even these board meetings. She wanted ppl to be mad she also wanted them to applaud her- whichever reaction you had to her “lightened skin” once her song came out and it was proved to be a lie then she wanted the song to trigger ppls guilt or pride. She wanted the black ppl who make dark skin “jokes” to reflect on what those jokes do to the ppl who have to hear them over and over, how it basically can affect the choices they make to fit in or to survive. She didn’t think about nor did she have a plan for the ppl she knows & would see but not tell want to tell the truth, (hence the argument with MiMi). She’s wrapped up in all her emotions and her “experiment” and she couldn’t explain herself so she instantly went to getting mad cause she didn’t want to explain ntn) Sorry this is so long. Not agreeing with how she did it- especially not how it’s playing out on the show.

Well, Spice has sung about social issues before. When she did her song, "Like A Man", she was in drag in her song. So, it's very much up her alley to be theatrical about it. She was being a bit more extra for the show but I don't think it's just for the storyline given her work in the past.
