In a sense he never left, he just spent those years working behind the scenes as a stunt choreographer. He worked on the stunts for the X-Men Movie, and he was the assistant director for Jet Li's 'The One' (meaning Jet Li was taking queues from him) before his return as an actor in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' and absolutely nailed it, winning him an academy award. Kid basically spent decades leveling up his awesomeness and made one of the most amazing comebacks ever.

I actually hope this movie does well, it looks entertaining and sometimes we forget that what movies are supposed to be for. Quan has worked hard to make his comeback, and so far he has not disappointed, so I hope this movie gets the viewership it needs so he can do more. You just know Spielberg and Disney have floated the idea of him doing an Indiana Jones spinoff and that might get greenlit if Quan's star keeps rising.
