I mean most of it is kind of obvious. People don’t use logic when it comes to these type of subjects especially love. Producers take advantage of this. What is wrong with a woman beings, too picky, a gold digger and all the other things she says at the end of the video? Because those things aren’t “politically correct”? How dare Jessica who makes six figures and is a grown woman want a stable grown man and not a love sick 24 year old. Women aren’t allowed to want what they want in this world today but men can pick and choose. Oh and because the media will jump right on you for not going on with what they feel like is “the right thing to do” when they aren’t the one that have to live there lives or looking for that love or spending the rest of their life with that person.

I wonder if it was portrayed because the women (minus Lauren and Diamond's relationships) were more overt so its easier to catch on film and the mens issues were more covert. Amber has a loud personality, Jessica was always drunk, Gianinna had outbursts that were camera worthy. Mark was always respectful nice and polite and passionate so his motives went under the radar especially since Jessica wanting to leave was not filmed. Damon was always calm which is a tactic that can be used to show that Gianinna is the crazy one; low key gas lighting but not always obvious on film. I dont really think Barnett got that great of an edit he did look like a player stringing women on to the proposal. They could have made Amber look worse with how the producer told you she was drunk all the time and rude to staff. The women seemed to be more open to talking about their past issues in relationships and the men didnt but that could also be the edit. It would have been nice to see them show the men talking about their relationship issues. They definitely edited the show with an agenda and gave the men a sympathetic edit.

Very good point!! I think you're right. The women definitely have more captivating personalities than the men, and unfortunately it was used against them throughout the season! Mark is extra gross considering they both agreed to say no at the altar as well but he changed his mind at the last minute without telling her!!! He is relentless in his pursuit of making Jessica the bad guy & I'm amazed she even still talks to him - I sure as hell wouldn't. Well said about Damien - can you believe that when she was upset with him for blindsiding her he tells her to look at how she's acting and that she's always so dramatic like that?! Just WOW, man. I really liked your take on everything - well said! :)

I feel that Mark gets off scot free. Mark is portrayed as a victim when he is a guy that is only into looks and what he thinks is beautiful. Mark literally takes best down after shit show from Jessica just because she is a blonde and hot. He is only into her looks and money. He reminds me of Hugh Hefner.

He also never takes no for an answer as if she has to like him whether or not she wants to or not. It's her fault if she doesn't revert back to being really into him. He also doesnt clean after himself in the flat he lives in, his flatmates call him out for being messy and not cooking etc. Yet he keeps telling jessica he is mature. He also talks about his mum way too much, who wants a guy who keeps talking about his mother 24/7. I wonder if he wouldve been so into her if he wasnt attracted to her. However he couldnt accept SHE just wasnt that attracted to him. He was also a bit creepy to get on the bed in his boxers the first night and she has to talk to him and say she doesnt want sex yet. I mean he cant be expecting sex like that. It would creep me out if a guy sat in boxers and no top on before I've slept with him. Creepy and immature

Here's my opinion on some of the topics discussed in the video: 1:47 I agreed with most of what was said about Damien and G, but personally I don't think it's fair to say that Damien wasn't serious about the relationship bc his parents weren't involved. We don't know what his relationship is like with his parents, and he certainly can't control their actions. If they are unwilling to cooperate, that's not Damien's or Gianina's fault. 4:50 it was mentioned in the video that we never knew about Amber's traumatic experience during the show because the editors cut out this information. But we actually do get to hear Amber talk about her abortion during the show, she mentions it to Barnett in the pods. She also mentions her depression and her work injury. There's a later scene when they are in the kitchen and Amber mentions her debt, and that she wasn't able to finish college because of issues happening in her life at the time. It's not like this information was purposefully edited out, the producers just left it up to the audience to put the dots together. 9:49 I totally agree that the hosts were acting way too forgiving towards Carlton during the reunion, and they shouldn't have put his behavior on a pedestal in anyway. A lot of what he said to diamond was completely uncalled for and just unnecessarily harsh. But later in this video it's mentioned that the hosts bash Diamond and put her in a negative light. "the reason diamond is single is because shes too picky about her sexuality in a mate or shes too unforgiving". This is blown way out of proportion, the hosts never specifically said anything negative about Diamond. I wish that they didn't reward Carlton's awful behavior, but I certainly don't think they punished Diamond for it, they just kind of disregarded her stance (which still isn't great, but it's not nearly as pessimistic). 10:57 "he did not want to have sex with Kelly" that statement is totally False. Kelly is the one in the relationship who didn't want to rush things physically. She says time and time again that she wasn't ready to be physical with him. In a very specific conversation between the two of them we see Kenny asking her about it and Kelly responds "things are so perfect between us, I just don't want to throw that in the mix just yet". I definitely did agree with some of the things stated in the video, but I think it's important to attempt to see both sides. It's hypocritical to claim that the producers of "Love is Blind" are completely one-sided towards the men, and then go and be completely one sided towards the women. For example calling Mark manipulative is a fair point 12:15 its clear that Jessica wasn't fully invested, but it would've been important to mention that she definitely was sending mixed signals (like taking off her ring and then telling his family that she's all in). Often times this review felt more like the goal was to villainize the men of the show instead of actually state valid issues with the sometimes sexist editing. Even though it attempted to look at facts and be constructive, it was too extreme and biased to one side of the argument. I feel as though the points mentioned would be taken more seriously if the criticism was evenly portrayed by both sides.

I feel bad for Jessica it’s not her fault she wasn’t attracted to mark and I feel like she truly did try to be, I think her problem was the wine and it was obvious she was drinking to cope with having to be with him but when she got drunk she would want to talk to Barnett and would say things she probably regretted the next day. But she didn’t deserve to be bullied by everyone. Barnett was more in the wrong than her! And I think amber felt some type of way watching it back because she even dyed her hair blonde afterwards.

Thanks for the review! Barnett most definitely entertained Jessica. Barnett saw the cameras were rolling and didn't want to look bad. They were so clueless (especially Nick) and missed so many good questions. I'm with you on the Carlton/Diamond situation. You’re awesome for sharing this much needed point of view on the show. I suspected from the very first watch that the producers of the show did not allow Jessica to leave and she was being so obvious about not being attracted to him, but Mark kept invading her personal space, it was unsettling to watch, especially in this day and age where men know better and there is no excuse.
@TheCombatBunny4 жыл бұрын
YES! THANK YOU!! Mark creeped me out. He was playing this "nice guy" while Jessica continuously expressed how NOT into him she was. Yet he wouldn't accept that "no" and kept insisting that they had a connection and "if she would only see the light", they would be perfect together again. It's just really disturbing that Jessica was portrayed as being wrong for not accepting Mark after she saw him. Isn't that part of the experiment? That love isn't blind and these two are an example of that. Instead, Jessica is crazy for not wanting to be with Mark because he was confident that they were good together and continued to want her even when she didn't want him.

To be honest I’m not sure about the whole Kenny thing. I don’t think he had a girlfriend going into the show, first of all he seemed truly excited when he met Kelly’s parents and was genuinely happy when her mom welcomed him into the family, and he even invited his parents to meet Kelly’s, and also there’s scenes when he’s telling Kelly how is ready to have sex her and she’s the one who keeps pushing it off, so he’s absolutely NOT the one who didn’t want it, it was 100% her. Now having said that, I do think that it’s kind of messed up that he said yes if they had previously agreed to say no and continue dating, but did you see how he reacted when he was asked by the filming crew if they were going to keep dating, he looked seriously offended, like he just couldn’t believe they would ask him that after being so humiliated. You could also see that both families were REALLY surprised when Kelly said no, especially her mom, don’t you think that they would of told their families if they already knew what was going to happen, I feel like Kelly would of at least told her mom that she was going to say no, but the lady was absolutely shocked. So honestly I’m not too sure that I believe Kelly, she kept getting more sketchy throughout the show and seemed more and more like a liar. Other than that, I agree that there were a lot misrepresentations of the women in the show, especially Diamond, who ended up seeming like this biphopic and closed minded person, when she was really the victim of a manipulating and egotistical liar. Honestly Kelly and Carlton should hookup, maybe the could entertain each other with all their lies.

I'm not a fan of reality tv and all I have seen is little snippets of the show as well as a lot of parodies of the show. After listening to your video, I could not agree more with what you have said. I just wanted to thank you for your eloquent description of each woman on the show and how each woman was betrayed in a negative light, with the man being the victim or savior. Barnett is a narcissist. Feel like this gets used too lightly but he really is. He chose amber because she was the most impacted through emotional manipulation. Amber will NEVER leave him. He just got his cake and got to eat it too. For the rest of his life he has a wife and mother to care for his children and household while he can entertain romantic relationships with whoever else he wants. Amber needs him, none of the other women needed a man to maintain their life. Amber wants to be a housewife. She gave up all her power and he preyed on it. I agree with a lot of your statements but I still think Amber is an “aimless gold digger” who thinks being a stay at home mom will be relatively easy. I say this because she wore high heels & moved around and sat on things as if she wasn’t physically injured. Also, there’s plenty of part time jobs that don’t require much movement (for example, I working as a call center representative, assistant, secretary, etc.) especially in a big city like Atlanta. She also said she “doesn’t live to work” with an attitude that makes me think she truly hates working (we all do but we have to provide for ourselves and sometimes others). Finally, as traumatic is an abortion may be for some women, we’re strong enough to still function as responsible adults.
@GraceReport4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where her injury is, so it's tough to lean one way or another without knowing! And the reason she couldn't work was due to the legal issues surrounding it - she wasn't allowed to! I do agree that her comments about work definitely didn't do her any favours. I just wish they brought up Barnett's debt as well to bring some balance to the conversation about money in their marriage!

I hate how other women look down on and demonize women whose goal is to have kids and be stay at home moms. If her and her husband is on the same page what the heck does it have to do with anyone else? We live in a time where women can choose to be stay at home moms if they please.
@Kadette214 жыл бұрын
Nyanza Rojas I don’t think you properly read what I said. I wrote that it’s my belief that she THINKS it’ll be relatively easier than working full time (but it isn’t if you’re being a proper parent). Even before having kids, she could still do her part as a stay at home spouse by cleaning, preparing dinner, running errands, etc. But on the show, even Barnett said he doesn’t know what she does all day while he’s at work. Trust me, my mother was a stay at home mother raising 4 kids up until we were all in school and she started working part time while we/the kids were gone for 8hrs. And the fact that her own mother’s first question was “Do you have a job?” to Barnett is what influences this opinion of mine. Plus if she can’t pay off a $700 credit card... it means she’s never taken finances seriously.

There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with a woman wanting to stay home and take care of the house and children letting the husband be a provider. There is was completely normal for many many many years. Just because you believe both people should be bringing money into the home doesn’t mean everyone believes that. It does not make someone a ‘hobosexual’.

Such an awesome break down. Especially with Lauren and Cameron! I never even thought about them leaving out Cameron’s family’s view on him marrying a black woman. Wow.

I noticed during the pod dates with Jessica told one of the men, I can't remember if it was Matt or Barnett, that she was unsure of which man she wanted. He shamed her, saying that she needed to make up her mind. He, and everyone was doing the same thing! That's what this experience was about! Meeting lots of people and choosing someone to "love".
