Active listening. So many people think communication is just about words. You know you are connected with someone when you can sit in silence with someone. I love how they were both willing to take a risk in being hurt by being honest and open . Cameron knew Lauren is a black woman, there were other black women on the show but he only connected with Lauren. So, they connected deeply emotionally and Lauren being a black woman was the icing on the cake because he seems to be attracted to BW. I think, Lauren sensed he might be non-black, but maybe not specifically White. Their personalities complement each other.
